Fifteen years have passed, you are well married with children...

1) Would you approve for your children to spend 3, 4, 5 or more hours per day on a single internet forum like the english sabla...as you once did?

2) Would you prefer to do something better with their free time and if yes, what would it be?

I don't think that I will allow them to do so, iI think that it is wrong to spend a long continues time on the internet, I am doing it because I have nothing else to do, I think that there is something better to do, I am not sure what though, I might get the answer when my children be old enough to use the internet, they are still quite young for that.

I'M JOKING, I DON'T HAVE KIDS!

Stupid clown, if my questions seems borring for you, your answer doesn't show much intelligence either. I guess you don't carry your nick for no raison, so you are forgiven...

Blue_Chi, what about if tomorrow your kids tell you the same thing: that they are doing it because they have nothing else to do?

I think that I would be the most understanding parent, after all, I have gone through it all, I will have to simply grant them my online blessings.

hmm.. i guess i wouldnt be happy with them using the computer the way i do.. unless if it was for work or something hmm.. important i guess.

i never used the computer for more than an hour a day b4 i went off for college. and so i would probably expect the same from them.

now am on the computer the whole time am at home.. which is kinda bad .. lol..but i have no choice really..as most of my work and the stuff i do..are computer related. :os

anyways.. indeed it would be better for them to be spending their time doing something useful like helping their mother around the house..lol.. or reading..or whatever , but i guess i would be understanding in the end cause i know what its like to wanna do what u wanna do..but cant cause parents are always on top of ur head!! ugh!!

oh well :p

I think I would allow them to use the internet but in timings... i would control them on it because as kids they should be having a lot to do with the school work and all that.

So they will only be allowed 2 hours in the weekends to join such a place u know fro relaxing and all.. it helps when one is far from the same Environment.

When our parents were growing up they could never imagine that their kids would spend hours a day staring at a screen that wasn't a TV. Why do you think our kids will be spending hours on the net? By the time we have teenage kids the internet would probably have been overtaken by something else all together.

If Internet would still be around by the time my kids are teens (As MUX implied)....

Hmm..LOL! I had the answer on the tip of my mind! I just forgot it :duh: !!!
Hmm.. Ok...

I might be the only person who spends the most hours online and on Sabla.. But.. This is only when I'm here in Muscat..
LOL! Ask anyone! whenever anyone logs in, they find me!!!
My dad isnt very fond of this habbit though.. And I'm always told off for spending endless hours on the net..

In Muscat I have nothing else to do.. So I'm on sabla 24/7 ..
I see nothing wrong with it.. The only drawback though..is that its affecting my health.. I have become a lazy person..
I dont move!! I dont sleep! I've got rackoon eyes!! :tiered:

So....Maybe I wont give them all that freedom.. It is for their own good... Also ,When I'm back to college I barely go on Sabla.. Internet would be only used as a purpose of studying, researching, reading and so on... :)

internet is cool, they can spend a couple of hours per day but they will have to interact with other human beings at their age face to face and not just from behind the computer screen.

If they didn't have any work for the next day, or finished everything they needed to do, then yes.

2) Would you prefer to do something better with their free time and if yes, what would it be?
It depends on the child and his/her abilities. If they are not good at something, then I'd rather they practiced that than come online.. Like maybe playing an instrument, learning a language, reading, writing, drawing.. etc.

I wouldn't want my children spending a lot of time online. Like the others said, they should be spending more time working for school, playing around with their friends, and going out. I wouldn't mind them using the net, but with limits, that I decide! I want them to learn to use the net, and be good at it, but I don't want them to take it over the limits. Once they finish school and go to college, then it's their responsibility, but of course I'll always be there to say something whenever it gets way too much!

Yes, as long as they're done with everything they are supposed to do..

2) Would you prefer to do something better with their free time and if yes, what would it be?
Well, I want them to have an interest.. this interest is what they should be doing in their free time.. whether it's the internet or not, I want them to do what they like..

I think:

The education has come into an era where the computer is very much important plus the internet with it's advantages in education. For example, in Bond School in Australia, it is very important that every student must have his/her own laptop because instead of using notebooks to take notes and all that the lecture notes are sent to each student's laptop from the host computer which is the teacher's computer. Their homeworks have to be e-mailed to the teacher, each student's assignment has to be e-mailed and recieve their exam papers as well from the intranet of the school. The exam is sent to students as in PDF format (those documents can only be read by acrobat reader I guess) and then they have write down the answers, each student's questions differ from the other one.

Well I think if the situation is like that after this 15 years you are saying express, I would let my children and I will have to let them do that because its important for their studies, but I would try to make sure I'm monitoring them upto certain age, later I will have to set them free for what they think is good for them. We cannot control our children after certain age for sure. I don't spend much of my time on Internet but what if later for educational purposes the children need internet? Should I then think the same way? I mean should I or not let my children use the Internet and spend hours on it?

Well if it was for nothing and just fun or browsing adult content I think I wouldn't let them do it. I would as them to read books and news papers instead.

If I wasn't answering the question I'm sorry. But I thought this is actually related to the question.

1) Would you approve for your children to spend 3, 4, 5 or more hours per day on a single internet forum like the english sabla...as you once did? no....I will only aloow them to use the internet to do their homework.....UNDER MY SUPERVISION.

2) Would you prefer to do something better with their free time and if yes, what would it be? Talk to their robot nanny , study, exercise or spend some quality time with their father
