JOB DESCRIPTION

Okay... i will give an example so that everyone can see what this whole thing is all about:

Organization Name
Job Description

Job Title: Internet Systey Administrator
Department:
Reports To:
FLSA Status:
Prepared By:
Prepared Date:
Approved By:
Approved Date:

SUMMARY

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

LANGUAGE SKILLS

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

REASONING ABILITY

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This is exactly how a Job Description looks like if anyone ahs never seen it before :)

In all those in Bold - whatever the Organisation wants from the perosn who would be handling "Internet System Administrator" as an example in here - he will have to fill in the Bold section which you see above.

As you can see it shows you everything about the person you want to recruite and etc... all the infromation one wants to know about the perticulre JOB it is descriped in there ..:)

I disagree with all that you have mentioned, the way I can see it, Its more about Job Requirement than Job Description

Job Requirement - Its about what are the thing required from a candidate, like education, experience, phyical demands, language skills etc.

While Job Description is more about what kind of job/activities you'll be doing and which way you're expected to perform it. As I can see from the format you have shown, only three items can be categorized as Job Description. Which are

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

WORK ENVIRONMENT

According to my "Unwin Hyman" Dictionary of Business
(2nd Edition):

A Job Description is a statement of the work tasks which constitute a JOB and the resposibilities of the employee in performing that job..
Job Descriptions usually form part of an employee's "CONTRACT OF EMPLOYMENT"

This is the answer we rely on in our studies at Uni..

Cheerz! :)
