yes I once opened a topic about this!!

I agree totally with you ... what our kids are watching now is disastrous. It teach them violence from day 1!!

why dont we have our own cartoon, that what I cant understand?!!!
fewer and fewer educational programs are viewed nowadays .. in our days we had all kind of programs like al manahil, al qitar al saree3, ifta7 ya simsim!!!

why is our media spending soooo much on music albums and viedoclips and forget our kids!!! (our media means arab media)

Big Mo you brought back memories to me :) those days we really enjoyed watching cartoons. One I wrote a letter toministry of information asking them to show curtain cartoon I couldn't believe it but they responded. I think I'll do that again to show today's children whar real cartoons are.

good question arabian princess i mean arabs are talented , wht don't they create their own cartoon instead of taking from other countries? i saw this cartoon wich talks about japan civil war and all the characters had arabic names!! the chidren will have wrong idea about their history and culture.

SadLad

I think they are already making some Arabic cartoons in the Egypt and iqra channel (قناة إقرأ) but the drawing is too poor and the movement of the characters is so annoying. They will need more time to improve their cartoons.

Arabian Princess

Iqraa is only one channel! we need a bigger budget for that!! if they have more technology they will produce an excellent work. we dont lack the artists!

Silver Angel

but those cartoons on iqraa and channels like that just suck! as Sadlad said the drawing is so poor and the movement of the characters is sooo annoying!! well sorry but they just suck! hehe i love maroko too its sooo funny and innocent!

Oookay....

I suppose cartoons have to catch up with kid's imagination.....which isn't what it was 20 years ago.

My niece and nephew saw grandaizer and they really liked it. Today's children like old cartoons and it's not that cartoons have to catch up with kid's imagination, I mean children can adjust with any cartoon they watch.

It is true that some cartoons do promote violence, but not all, there are lots of these new cartoons are far MORE DEEP and have a greater meaning that those "SIMPLE" Tom & Jerry cartoons that dominated the media in the old days.

I love Maroko :D It is the BEST cartoon of the century! It is simply amazing, great characters, realisitic story, and amazing comedy, it is just almost the best thing I've ever seen!

There are other cartoons that might have too much violence, but I think that most of the kids KNOW that it is cartoon and that there are not supposed to copy everything they see. Lots of the new cartoons are very inspiring and have epic stories and amazing characters, more effort is put in these cartoons to give a bigger message than the old time wasting cartoons, of course, we had lots of great other cartoons in the old days, but the simply dull majory covered these other good ones.

i barely watched any of those dubbed cartoons when i was young and always prefered the disney cartoons.. or the american ones.. like "He Man" , "Muppet Babies" , "G.I.Joe" .

i loved all the un realistic cartoons, but i also loved some of the dramatic realistic ones.

YES, so I'm not the only big girl who loves this cartoon!:D

But yeah, I guess every time has it's own people. It's just that nowadays cartoons seem to interest the boys more than the girls! You don't find cartoons like Sally, or lady lady, lol, those were really good!

I admit that kids nowadays are much more intellegent and they wont do what they actually see, but when a kid is exposed to alot of violence, thier behiviour become violent.

exposing to violence will result in children more violent. and what about the love scenes? this is not any part of our culture, and that is not what we want to teach kids.

Blossom

another point i want discuss is that most of these cartoon are from japan. they have many festivals, where they wear their traditional clothes. when these cartoon are showed in arabic channels they are given arabic names. now i don't think this will the help the child imagination, it will make him more confused.

I never used to watch cartoons on TV. I remember my mum used to get us all the Disney videos. I loved those! I don't really remember watching any cartoons besides the Disney ones.

Well things change with time, and even children change.. the way they think, what they want, what is fun to them.
