i m really happy that you enjoyed learning spanish :)
hey girls, inshallah,we will be the most 'international speaking' girls in our sablah ;)
grammar is not that funny but we need to know to say me ,you...
i : jo : yo
you: tu : too
he/she: el/ella : ele , eya
we : nosotros : nosotros
you : vosotros : bosotros
they : eles/ellas : eles, eyas
for the importants persons(elder...) we use usted in spite of "tu" :)
another prononciation rule:
double l "ll" = "y" like in yes
that's for today ,a la proxima ;)
BomBola 08-05-01, 08:19 AM well done reena.. now we gona turn the English Sabla to international Sabla LoOlz :D
we are all so intersted now.. hope our interest won't make us learn Indian language instead of Spanish :P
I'll try to practise these once & allah ye3eena ;)

KING_OF_ALL 02-06-01, 12:20 AM Thanx 4-ever-young, but can you HELP ?
cheers,
4-ever-young 02-06-01, 12:44 AM so u want a cd to learn spanish?
I am guessing that u r in Oman and so i will enquire about that and get back to you insha allah
learn first the "SUBJECT PRONOUNS"
First person singular- I
Second person singular- you
Third person singular- he, she, it, or the formal (you) "Madame President!"
First person plural- we
Second person plural- you people
you tú
she ella
he él
you (formal) Our example: "Madame President!" usted
it ello
we nosotros (guys or guys + girls)
we nosotras (girls)
you people vosotros (guys or guys + girls)
The vosotros form is not used in Latin America
you people vosotras (girls)
they ellos (guys or guys + girls)
they ellas (girls)
Often the subject pronoun isn't used because the conjugation of the verb (the next topic) tells who did the action
"PRESENT TENSE VERBS"
Verbs can be separated into three groups, depending on the last two letters of the infinitive of the verb. The categories are -ar, -er, and -ir verbs.
Examples
amar- to love
correr- to run
vivir- to live
You can strip off the last two letters to determine the stem
am-
corr-
viv-
The table below shows the conjugation for the first person present for the above three verbs: amar (to love), correr (to run), and vivir (to live)
for -ar verbs you see the endings -o, -as, -a, -amos, -áis, -an
for -er verbs you see the endings -o, -es, -e, -emos, -éis, -en
for -ir verbs you see the endings -o, -es, -e, -imos, -ís, -en
you will notice an overall similarity for all three verbs
you will notice even more similarity between -er and -ir verbs
for the remainder of your verb conjugation, you will be looking for as many generalizations as you can find to simplify memorization efforts
first person singular amo corro vivo
second person singular amas corres vives
third person singular ama corre vive
first person plural amamos corremos vivimos
second person plural amáis corréis vivís
third person plural aman corren viven
The verb 'beber' means to drink. From the above conjugation for -er verbs, we strip off the (er), giving us 'beb' and then we add 'o' for 'bebo.'
Yo bebo.
I drink.
When refering to a verb, we refer to the infinite form, which makes it easy to see if it is an -ar verb, an -er verb, or an -ir verb.
"NOUNS- SINGULAR VS. PLURAL"
If the noun ends in a vowel, add s
hombre
hombres
If the noun ends in a consonant, add es
mujer
mujeres
i didn't get time to continue posting, but i see that you are doing a great job, keep going :)
This is cool, Spanish and very interesting. I think it's a lot easier than other languages, this is why people can learn it faster. Pronounciation is also easy for arabic speakers.
Muchas gracias para ensenarnos espanol. Creo que el espanol es mucho mas facil que las otras idiomas, como el frances y el arabe. me gusta much hablar el espanol y escuchar la musica latina porque estudio el espanol por dos anos en el estados unidos.
hasta luego

Blue_Chi 30-08-03, 07:05 PM I have had a Spanish course as well, but I was not really serious about it and I almost forgot every single thing I have learned, :duh: I will be reading this thread to refresh my memory. Keep it up guys!
Blue_Chi 30-08-03, 07:44 PM I just checked the dates of the posts and I discovered that this thread has been actuall idle of a while, I guess it is my turn to give the lesson,
Firs of all, numbers correction,
1- Zero was not mentioned,
Zero is written "Cero" in spanish and is pronounced "Thero"
(Ce, Ci, Za, Zo, Zu are all pronouced with a soft "th" like theatre)
Following the same concept, Five would be "Cinco" and is pronouced "Thinko", Ten would be "Dies" and is pronouced "Deeyeth"
Now moving to simple phrases,
Asking about the name of the person you are talking to
Como te IIamas? - Pronouced "Komo Ti Yamas" - This is informal
Come se IIama? Pronouced "Komo Si Yama" - This is formal
Answering the Question
Me IIamo Blue_Chi. "Pronounced "Mi Yamo Blu_tchi" (lol),
Asking about what you do
Que eres? Pronouced "Ke airais"
Answering the Question
Soy Estudiante - Pronounced "Soy Estoodiantai"- Means "I am a student"
Soy Cantante - Pronounced "Soy Kantantai" means - "I am a singer!" lol (Cantant is my favourite spanish word!)
This was a very short lesson, I thought Fahad's posts were FAR too complicated~ :S people are not going to take get a PhD in Spanish through Sabla.
A la proxima!
gracias Blue_Chi :color:
very useful..
comoestas?
como ti IIamas? mi yamo Floret
que eres?
soy professoretta.. ya3ni teacher.. I think
will be waiting :color:
Blue_Chi 31-08-03, 09:03 PM Hola Floret, good thing to see someone interested.
A male teacher in Spanish is called "Profesor" and a female teacher is a "Profesora", you were quite close to it. Spanish is very similar in Arabic to mascular and feminie nouns naming.
Here is what you should say:
"Hola, me IIamo Floret y soy profesora, Y tu?"
" Ola, me yamo floret ee soy profesora, ee too?"
"Hello, I am Floret and I am a teacher, what about you?"
Asking about nationalities
De donde eres? - Informal
Di Donday erais
De donde es? - Formal
Di Donday es
Both mean, Where are you from?
The answer is
"Soy De Oman."
Soi Di Oman
I am from Oman.
Now back to the earlier queston,
Que eres?
Soy estudiante.
Other jobs are:-
Arquitecto-Arquitecta (Archicture)
Camarero/Camerara (waiter)
Cantante (Singer)
Estudiante (Student)
Ingeniero/Ingeniera (Engineer) (pronouced "enkhineero)
Medico/Medica (Doctor)
Profesor/Profesora (Teacher)
actor/actriz (actor/actress)
And this is it for today!
a la proxima!
