That is so sweet of you DS to open this thread and I didn' t expected it at all..so thank you and all the above members for your warm welcome.

I gave a brief introduction in my announcement thread (http://www.englishsabla.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=14383) and don't mind answering your questions.

1) Tell us how was it out of the Sablah and there?

I have to be honest and say that it was a great break from the Sabla. Though I was here and there often wandering what was going on in the forum, I didn't have time to miss it as I had such a lovely time and was fully relaxing and enjoying my holidays.

2) Where did you go?

I named all the places in my announcement thread. I started with Malaysia (Sunway Lagoon Resort, Kuala Lumpur and Genting Highlands), then went to Thailand (Dusit Laguna, Phuket and Bangkok)

3) What was the experience?

I will try to post some pictures later on, but this was briefly my impressions:

Malaysia: It was my first time to visit this place and I found it less conservative then I expected it to be. Most girls don't wear the veil and are all in jeans..to my surprise.

It is a strange experience to be litterally surrounded by asians (a lots of chinese and Japanese, beside the Malay). They are excellent at their work, but don't seem to mingle with the foreigners. Maybe because of the previous scare of the Sars Virus, there were nearly no Europeans and very few Arabs.

Sunway Lagoon Resort: was even better than I expected and is just a very, very nice property with a beautiful Egyptian architectural theme. I think there is a big difference between someone visiting the water theme park for a day only, and someone staying at the resort and using all the facilities.

We find everything there, from huge shopping center, coffee shops, 28 bowling alleys, ice skating ring, cinema etc...I found the best lady to give oil massage (Lili) in that resort. I was there for a week, but could have easily stayed for another one if not more. You can't get bored!

My best purchases: many dvds, x-box games for my sons, latest panasonic digital camera and a canon camera.

The Capital of Kuala Lumpur: as it was 45 minutes from the resort, I decided to visit it and take a tour. I was somehow desappointed by its look and poor conditions. The only place which seemed very interesting is where the two big Petronas towers are. I have to admit that the shopping there is simply wanderful!

My best puchases: a foot and back massage machine, and loads of books (religions, cooking, yoga ect...)!

(To continue....)

Thanks all it is good to be back though I truely miss my daily oil thai massage!

3) What was the experience?

Thailand: It was my 2nd time to visit Phuket in Thailand and I have to say that it was a million time better than my first visit. I think this was all due to the beautiful resort where I was staying this time: the Dusit Laguna Resort.

The place was just so beautiful, so green with hundreds of tall coconut trees, breathtaking beach and not to mention perfect service and organization.

In Phuket, not only I had the chance to relax, but I went through many excursions (i.e: canooing, cave discovery, snorkling...). What is really interesting is to visit some of the 30 wanderful small island surrounding the area (i.e: PhiPhi island, James Bond island, Krabi etc...)

4) Weather?

I was not aware that it is the mansoon season during this time of the year and though the weather in general is very warm and nice, it can suddenly rain heavily.

5) The food?

Simply wanderful! It is known for its delicious fresh seafood dishes and I just loved each of them. We have to be careful as it can be quite spicy!. Among my favorite local dishes: the Tom Yung soup, the stir fried cashew chicken, grilled garlic lobster and very well known pineapple rice.

For me, see few pictures which I posted==>in this thread (http://www.englishsabla.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=15371) ;)

6) Would I go back to Thailand next year?

Definitely!!
