A lot of our talents don’t get the attention that they deserve and some end up leaving the country to look for better life. What should they do stay here and stop there ambition or go to place where they can reach their goals? What about our system does it take care of young talents in school and are they being developed? What causes talents migration in your opinion? What is the effect on our countries development?
I will say it very straight and forward!!!
SMART PEOPLE - are not wanted in this country - the more one dumb is the more chance one ahs to be posted in a good position!! :tiered: :bang:

Which got me thinking... Does Oman give Sports Scholarships?
We have those in Jordan.. For example any person who was outstanding in any sport while being at school or something, would be able to go to college with what we call (Tafawuq Riyadi).. This is only given in Public Universities only.
I had a couple of friends who played Basket Ball very well, and used to be members in a club, got this scholarship though they didnt do very well in "Thanawaieh 3ama", but they are good playing b-ball, so they got to study in that university that actually only accepts high grades...

In foreign countries for example, US, try very hard to keep all their talented people, (outstanding in any field!) in their country..So THEY would actually benefit THEIR country...
At the same time..They are laying their hands on every other talented or outstanding individual from any other country!!!
most likely i myself will seek a carreer out of the country when am done with my studies. i find no appreciation over here and its like am just wasting the gift i have. i've been told with my talent i could be something big in other places..but here.. i almost dont stand a chance.
wasted talents?? indeed.. and when that changes..thats when our country will actually grow.

speaking of sports...
Qatar as well as other Gulf Countries give the athelets a passport if they do well in their sport... its very simple, but then we have to put in mind that the population of Qatar is less than a million, therefore for it to have talent in sports they give out passports...
i was watching Oman TV today and they showed the Omani Weight Lifting Team and all the medals they have won, the good news is that all the athalets were Omani...
therefore Oman is heading towards the right direction...
as for talented minds... some students have been granted full or partuial scholorship... so thats been taken care of too... as for getting a job and applying new concepts, i still think that we are behind in that...
So most of you think that it's better to leave the place?
Why not try starting something your self if you really think that it happens in here!
If you are talented and never been given the appreciation for it.. then you your self should show it to the world!!

I do agree with you that when one feels that you got what it takes to do something .. or you got talent that you know deep inside you that you will be something big .. one should really fight for it rather than just give up!
You see - i agree with all of you that Oman is very much out back when it comes to such things like sports.. Art etc.. but slowly they are starting to pick up some good talented ppl in the sport line as a start.
Oman is a place to start something new i must say . because here its not like we got a lot of competitors ...you still hold a chance to be the number 1 in whatever u are good at - but what one needs for the start is the RIGHT push.. meaning a good Moral support.. sponsorship if it is possible.
if it is possible.

The situation in Oman is very pathetic, there is no recognition for any of the talents at all, there is are no clubs or anything when it comes to Art, Sportsmen are not paid well, (THAT IS IF THEY ARE PAID ANYTHING AT ALL), of course there are no motivations for talent discovery as there are not courses or programmes for anything special, the Omani youth has nothing to do in summer holidays but of course enjoy the “Rathath” of the Khareef wasting their time under the drizzling of the rain << That is the only thing that I’ve seen on TV.
is our country ready for the change in its system???
Why would you think that it is not ready for a change? Of course we might not be able to have job opportunities for all types of careers because of our developing nature, but still this does not meant that we are not ready for some sort of recognition at least.

The country does send grant full or partial scholarships to some students, but they never give the student what he/she wants to study, there is only a list of majors that you have to choose from.
Sometimes we do give in and say that there is no way to change the world, but we are not even THINKING of STARTING A CHANGE, and I believe that there is no way we will just wake up to see that the country has changed on its own.
when i was in the USA i got offers that i'll never get as long as i'm alive here in Oman and guess what? i refused them to come here and i ended up looking for a job for almost 9 months with no luck in the end i went back to the UniteStates but soon my family called me that i got a job at a very repectable place in Oman . any way it's still doean't compare to the offer i got in the States the forst time and i kinda regret not taking it and everybody kept telling me with my talents i could be doing a lot better somewhere else!!!!????? :bang: :bang: :bang: :bang: :bang: :angre:
