As for Oman, as you know in Ramadhan cinemas aren't allowed to show movies until after tarawee7, and also because the loss of business in the month, movie distributors refuse to release big movies during the month and usually keep them till Eid.

The movie will be shown on oct 5 in singapore....:D ....but Iam going to wait for at least 2 weeks....I dont like to go to a movie with lots of people.....you know they keep talking, couging, make noise when they eat popcorn or throw some at you, pppl shuuushing others while they them selves are making noise....these movie needs full concentration......

I saw the latest Matrix Revolutions trailer in the cinema today. It's the one which has Neo talking to some sort of giant eye which says that Smith is gone out of control and Neo offers to stop him. This trailer showed more of the movie than the previous ones, but somehow it didn't make me think "i can't wait till I see it".

I just don't have that kind of excitement for this movie like I had for Reloaded. Does anyone here share this feeling?

Yo, those are Australian Dollars mentioned in the clip you saw, not US Dollars. And the 6 year thing is bullsh!t. The first Matrix movie came out in 1999 which is only 4 years ago and they didn't start making Reloaded and Revolutions till the begining of 2001.

Yeh but when they made the first part they hadn't decided at that time for it to be a trilogy. It's only after the first one came out and was a huge hit that they decided to make two sequels. So it's not right for them to say that the special effects for this new one took 6 years to make. Film makers always want to hype their stuff this way.

I want to clarify some issues regarding this matter at hand first of all Keanu Reeves might make between 90-200 million US Dollars as i mentioned in a pervious thread called "Cameron Diaz is the highst paid actress" and it's true he gets a percentage on top of his salary of 35 million and as we speak matrix reloaded already made more than 750 million world wide secodly the dirctors brothers wrote the script for all the 3 movies long ago but they could only make one movie cuase no body really thought that'll do well but it did and they demanded what they wanted to make the other two parts third and last these movie are the best thing that happend to cinema and i'm looking forward to see the final chapter :D

seen it didn't like it, why did Neo have to..........ok i won't spoil it for you. but really i didn't like it, the 2nd one was better in my opinion...everyone in the theater was like what the*****. anyway you'll see by yourself. hope the LOR will be much more better.

I saw the move on day one, I thought that it was good, but I was not really satisfied, I wanted more, I thought that there was something missing, a movie this good should have been concluded in something grand, something massive.

I still love the whole concept and theme of the Martix, it is full of messages, emotions, and lessons. My favourite theme was that there is a reason for the existence of every one of us, I loved the way that ideas were resembled through lay names of characters we see every day, although that it was not perfect, it was still my type of movie.

If you only want to see machines fighting against each other (firing a zillion rounds at those squids) ... or a scene with Neo and Agent Smith doing an Arial fight, then this movie's for you!

Personally ... the worst of all the 3 parts. Has nothing special to add ... Neo can feel almost the whole matrix, can defeat the ex-agent Smith (don't know how), and this time you'll see the face of the Computer World.

If you can wait for the dvd to come out, then do wait!!

I finally got my sh!t together and went to see Revolutions today. I came out thinking not of the movie but of how success gets to people's heads. The Wachowski brothers made a movie changed the face of film making. That movie was The Matrix. It showed you stuff you've never seen before. That's not something you can say about too many movies you've seen in your life. Really. Think about it, how many movies have you seen in your life which actually showed you something new which you haven't seen before? Anyhow, The Matrix was a huge success and when the studios went back to the Wachowskis and asked them if they can do a sequel the brothers were so full of themselves that they actually believed they can pull not one but two sequels out their collective a$$es.... And what do we have now? The memory of the brilliant movie spoiled by a substandard sequel and a horrible horrible ending.

Matrix Reloaded wasn't a bad movie, but it was a movie that required trimming. If you take out that horrible rave sequence and the god awful speech that Morpheus gives it easily becomes a much better movie. The highway chase scene was brilliant, but the so-called "burly brawl" in which Neo fights a million Smiths was nothing great. It was brilliant as a display of how advanced special effects have become, but as a piece of film making it simply lacked spark. They fight and fight and fight. It keeps looking more and more fake.

The problem with Revolutions is that I found myself not caring for the characters anymore. In the first movie Zion is just a concept you hear of but never see. It is left to your imagination to wonder what kind of utopia it is. But when you finally saw it in Reloaded, tell me honestly what did you think of it. It looked like a friggin' hippy commune to me. And then when they started dancing as if they were all on acid I kept waiting for the psychedelic lights to come on.. free love and all that crap.. What the hell, this is the life they were all fighting for?

Do you remember the scene in the first movie when Cypher eats a steak in The Matrix? He says "I know this steak doesn't exist. I know that when I put it in my mouth, the Matrix is telling my brain that it is juicy and delicious. After nine years, you know what I realize? Ignorance is bliss." After seeing Matrix Revolutions I came back to this quote and agreed with it. So what if humans were living in a Matrix where everything was fake and they were nothing more than batteries for the machines. At least things looked good and tasted good. Better than Zion where everyone's a hippy, everything's filthy, and the city is ruled by a council of acid heads (especially the back dude with the bushy beard.. that guy probably rolls the fattest joints of the bunch).

Matrix Revolutions is the product of brains that have run out of ideas. They could have easily taken the core of this movie and trimmed the crap from Reloaded and come up with one movie. It would still be a semi-disappointing sequel to The Matrix. But one good, not so great movie is better than the sum of disappointing one and a horrible one. When the machines attack Zion in Revolutions the screen is full with thousands of the machines all coming down at Zion. I am sure it is a brilliant piece of special effects. The FX people were probably creaming their shorts the whole year that they were drawing that sequence. But what doest it amount to as entertainment? Nothing. It overwhelms your senses for a second and then your brain tells you 'hey, I can't follow this action.. they're are too many machines and too many bullets.. I'm not enjoying this'. And that's the biggest fault of Reloaded/Revolutions. The geeks forgot they were telling a story, not just showing off to other geeks. It's like penis envy on a nerd level. It's not "mine is bigger than yours", instead it's "my special effects are better than yours." It reminds me of something Quentin Tarantino said in an interview when he was promoting Kill Bill last month. I think he said something like "If I wanted to make the Matrix i'd just stick my d!ck in the hard drive of my computer". Unfortunately that's what the Wachowskis have done here. And the really sad part in all this is that they did it to their own legacy. They spoiled their own wonderful vision. There wasn't any reason why there should be a Matrix Trilogy except that Star Wars is trilogy and all great sci-fi sagas are usually trilogies. So what? They should have learned from the mistakes of the past. Even George Lucas couldn't do it with Star Wars. The first one was a new new thing. The second one, amazingly, was even better than the first one.. but then he f*cked up and third one sucked.. Then George Lucas thought he could do it again, but Episode One was even worse.. The only reason why the Lord of The Rings trilogy will be a great movie trilogy is because it was already written and acknowledged as a great story. When fans went to see the movies the suspense wasn't "will it be a good story", the only suspense is if the director could pull it off and make a good movie of it. Here a story was needed first, a great movie second. They couldn't come up with a good story in the first place, so why make a movie at all?

By the way you hardly said anything much about Matrix Revolutions. You were more or less lamenting on Matrix Reloaded, Matrix, Star Wars, geroge Lucas, Quentin Tarantino, Wachaowskis and so on....I was expecting a Revolutions critic.

I didn't want to put any spoilers so I purposefully avoided to write much about what I didn't like in the movie. It is basically a huge let down.

When fans came out of Reloaded disappointed the film makers said stuff like "oh don't worry this was just a set up, the real deal will be Revolutions. It will blow your socks off." Well it doesn't. It's much worse than Reloaded and the ending is a HUGE letdown. And there is no way for me to criticize it without telling you what the ending is. Let's wait till the movie comes out in Oman and then we can open a Matrix Spoilers thread to discuss it then.

LOS ANGELES - The sci-fi Matrix saga lost some of its spin at the U.S. box office, with "The Matrix Revolutions" pulling in $50.16 million in its opening weekend off 45 percent from the previous chapter's weekend debut.

"Revolutions," pummeled by critics as harshly as "The Matrix Reloaded" was last May, has grossed $85.5 million domestically since debuting Wednesday, according to studio estimates Sunday. While the numbers are high, they are still down from "Reloaded," which had a $91.8 million weekend debut and took in $134.2 million over its first four days.

Distributor Warner Bros. preferred to focus on the worldwide results for "Revolutions." Warner opened the movie simultaneously in a record 109 countries, where it racked up a worldwide total of $204.1 million in five days, beating the previous global high of about $200 million for "The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers"


Despite the domestic debut for the final "Matrix" chapter, the "Matrix" franchise this year already is pushing the $1 billion mark.

"Anytime you have a billion dollars in box office, that's pretty impressive," Joel Silver, producer of "The Matrix" franchise, said Sunday. "I don't know how you point a finger and say there's anything wrong there."

Still, interest clearly has waned in the franchise, which began in 1999 with the Wachowski brothers' "The Matrix" starring Keanu Reeves, Laurence Fishburne and Carrie-Anne Moss. The movie's sleek black fashion sense and slow-motion visual effects have become one of the most copied looks in movie history.

Many fans of the original were disappointed by "Matrix Reloaded," finding it a lackluster followup that emphasized style over substance.

"Reloaded's" opening weekend the second-best ever after "Spider-Man's" $114.8 million was greatly due to pent-up demand since the original movie. "Revolutions" lacked that buildup.

"I don't know what film could do $90 million and then repeat that with its next sequel just six months later," said Paul Dergarabedian, president of box-office tracker Exhibitor Relations.

Playing in 3,502 theaters domestically, "Matrix Revolutions" averaged $14,322 a cinema from Friday to Sunday, down from a $25,472 average for "Matrix Reloaded." "Love Actually," with an ensemble cast including Hugh Grant, Emma Thompson, Liam Neeson and Laura Linney, averaged $11,458 in 576 cinemas, while "Elf" averaged $9,619 in 3,337 theaters.

Dan Fellman, head of domestic distribution for Warner, said "Matrix Revolutions" may hold up better in subsequent weeks than did "Matrix Reloaded," whose grosses nose-dived in its second weekend. Films tend to have longer shelf life over the holidays than they do in summer-blockbuster season, he said.

"The story really isn't over yet," Fellman said. "We might not have had the same impact in the opening weekend, but you need to play this out for the next few weeks and see if we play a little catchup."

"Elf" and "Love Actually" were scheduled against "Matrix Revolutions" as alternatives to the sci-fi franchise, whose core audience is younger males. Families and children accounted for most of the crowds at "Elf," while "Love Actually" played mainly to women and older adults.

"We assumed we would be swamped, and essentially, we did get swamped" by "Matrix Revolutions," said Russell Schwartz, head of domestic marketing for "Elf" distributor New Line. "We were not trying to be No. 1."

Estimated ticket sales for Friday through Sunday at North American theaters, according to Exhibitor Relations Co. Inc. Final figures will be released Monday.

This is the second time i have attempted to write a review of Revolutions, the first review i wrote didnt go right and now iam re-writing. I enjoyed the first film after watching it on DVD and the second film when i saw it at the cinema, i also watched Animatrix and have it on DVD. I havent actually read any of the books however i found Reloaded fairly simple as with the first film having understood the first film on my first watching, the same with Reloaded when i got it on DVD.

When Revolutions was approaching i downloaded a trailer and spent hours analysing it with friends as obsessed with films as iam, this led to some great theories concerning the third film especially with some of the imagary on the first trailer. It has been 24 hours since i watched the film and now its even better than when i watched it yesterday which was when i would have not been so happy about the film.

The film began will with some great explainations and also good scripting which explained the whole issue of Neo being in a coma at the begining, the special effects and fight sequences were as enjoyable as the first film and the emotional growth of both Neo and the machines upto the final sequence with Neo trusting the machines and freeing humanity. The film wasnt simply a sequel to the first film but also the whole Matrix sequence of films and games, bringing the main questions to an end while also providing the third section of the 3 issues of Birth, life and death which was key to the whole Matrix, its a pity some people and other reviewers simply either dont get it or simply think of the Matrix as an average movie which aint true due to the huge storyline which like all good fan created films is tough to understand for some but if you enjoy it like the creators must then that is the best thing that could happen, just like Tarrantino and Kill Bill.

(9 out of 10) It left me with questions and opened my mind to possibilities i never thought of, the very nature of Morpheus's comment in the Matrix "Free your mind". I know some people might find the questions afterward were bad, i thought they were the thing which would make me remember the Matrix in years to come, plus it was better than T3 and i have waited for that for nearly a decade.

Seen it.....the Matrix Revolutions that.. is.... its sad....that there is no more matrix...:sorry:

took me few moments to realize...when it ended... I loved it.. and think it was done in one of the ways I would of wished it to end with....

I always looked and look at the matrix..as one movie.... which means including the sequels... they are all one big movie... like if you had a VCD movie with 3 CDs.... looking at it from that point it makes lots of sense...especially that the movie itself..was mostly all done together....

Highly recommend it to those who are in doubt....no matter what.... its a must see...

I agree with Desert Destroyer and Abaadi here...I loved the movie.

I must admit some points still dont make sense to me, but im still trying to catch up with the explanations and im sure they'll make sense in the end.

Im surely gonna watch all three movies(Matrix,Reloaded,Revolutions) again and again , once more just because they're all so brilliant.

No matter what I liked Revolutions.

I disagree with Mux no one thing: I thought Revolutions was better than Reloaded. The story actually came to mean something at that point (as it did in the beginning), although what it came to mean would be disappoiting to some.

A few may find the rather "Christian" symbolism a little disturbing. For me it just made me s****** - not quite the thing for a poignant climax.
