At my work place, in the past I was part of a team that implemented a fiber optic system to control communication devices. The installation, especially where you had to splice and where the cable was required to make sharp bends, the cable has been susceptible to failure.

If we could unlock the secret properties of the natural sponge that has been recently discovered in the deep oceans, this could lead to a far superior product.

quite interesting... and for sure if they can happen the find a way to engineer it to a similiar level.. it would be more efficient. Wonder how long it will take them to figure this one out.
