View Full Version : A letter from my dad
Arabian Princess 28-04-01, 12:02 PM When I was 15 years old .. my dad once gave me a letter ..
the letter contains differnt advices for life and how to be a better person ..
maybe when I was at that age .. I did not realize how did this letter affect me .. but now .. when I read it again .. I truly admit that I was affected by the letter and learnt alot from it ..
Dad gave me the letter in a very crucial time in my life .. I mean as a teenager .. that time might be dangerous .. and Thank God he did realize it and helped me go through those years safely ..
I wrote this post to highlight how it is important to be so close to your kids .. in any way possible .. just give them advices in ways that might not seem as an advice .
May ALLAH Help us raise our kids in this difficult time !
tks
that was excellent issue; but can u relay to us what was written?
and if u will not take it hard, how old are u now approx, and how many kids u have and grands.

Cool Issue..... n it's a true fact that we only come to realise the importance of our parents words.....after quite a while..... then u'd go back saying .. :" AAAAAhhhhh.. that was what they meant!" or " I should've followed their advice".. and u know .....
al Meskary!!
..so u have no alternative except to agree with me that:-
there are other nic/names which are simple and easy comes out between lips.
so why you laughed internaly when i pointed out about 'Nikita'?
check above am I lucky Nizwani?

BomBola 07-05-01, 12:31 PM i thought that the topic was about how parents affect their children in their words.. but I'm getting confused now..

R.online 19-05-01, 06:26 PM I bet u ppl, if i see u in reality, i'll probably know half of u. Trust me, its a very very small world.
anyways, back to the subject.
Arbprncess, thats a very touching story.
Most ppl try to become like their parents when they grow up, some even wish to go to the same universities their parents went to. And so, every aspect of parenting must be well planned even though its not that easy in reality.
I remember when me & my siblings were taught how to say "al7amdulillah" and "mashallah". We used to use it in every sentence....sometimes fi '3air ma7alu, it got funny some times :D. Cos my dad stressed on how good it is to use the name of Allah in everything we do.
Its not good to lecture children a lot. Not only bcz kids have a short concetration span but also bcz it will always stick with until adulthood if made simple and unoccassional.
(7asab el 6alab wallah).
May i also add how its important to have a loving relationship with your kids rather than one more based on respect. If u make them your friends, they'll feel free to discuss everything that bothers them in life. Secrets r very bad. Sometimes they might fall in the wrong hands.
ok...more on this later..gtg. salams ya jama3a.
arbprncs..
i agree with u about the NB of parents on beeing close to there kids and guide them to there future ..
i am here to tell u how important was a setting with my father and how did it affect my future..and led me to be a doctor ..
i was a careless student when i started the elemintary school simply coz i thought that learning is hard and useless.... my dad recognized this behaviour in me and oneday when i was in the 2nd class he tought me one of those lessons in the book iqra'a and i still remember that lesson .. he encouraged me to read it by my self and solve the question in it .. after that i realised that i have a power in me which i have not discovered before and my dad explored it ...
i really thank my dad of what he did and what i know is that what i am right now in my career is just due to what my dad did that day and thanx allah for that.
friends we know that we like to be dependent in our life but friends keep in mind that always ask ur parents in what to do toward ur future.. coz they might be helpful..
