Salam to all,
i am an undergraduate at an university abroad
i have taken my whloe education before this in Oman
when i came to this University i found it very difficult
not becasue i dont know the stuff they are teaching but mostly
because of my background, Language is one thing
then A level is another thing....
My question is Basic education on its way to solve such
difficulties, will the coming generations be well educated
will they have enough knowledge to study at the university..?

That's the problem with the government schools in Oman. the students leave and they are not prepared to cope with the REAL thing somewhere else.. allah yi3een these students who have to keep up with crap like this just coz their school back at home wasnt good enough to teach them something about what happens outside.. they can at least use the same teaching methods if they cant make it up to the same level.. man!!

Basic education have been fought very much from the public because of the mixing in schools .. but I did not find anyone saying something really reasonable about it ..
I do beleive that the governemnt will not change the whole system if it did not have any advantage ..
actually .. in the ministry of education website ( I do not know it .. if anyone know it please give it ) they have a whole information about it .. I think i will read it when I have time this summer ..if anyone know something .. please tell us

the problem is that students start learning A B C D at the age of 9 or 10 ..
at that age ..students should be able to write pragraphs & stories.. cause most higher educations are tought in English & this should be concidered..

umm.. There are lots of smart & claver students who actually get less grades compared with the student who have good English in the collages & univesities because of the English level.. this is unfare.. till now I didn't hear of any new system that they are willing to work for regarding this.. hope this issue will be concidered by the Ministry of Education ..

are we trying to say here that our education level is not
up to date, i think yes we rae not
students at age of 9,10 should be able to do better things than just than learning ABCD,
hp wcan we develope if we don't have strong basis
how do we expect a student to learn eveything at his
college time, it is too late by then, he/she should
have enough knowledge abpout what is going on in the technology world, and itis the time to specialise in
any of the life's fileds...

it doesn't necessary have to be in english medium
even arabic will do, providing we have the right methods and subjects..(the right manhaj)

kids in japan are taught how do machines work
where i am at my university and i don't knwo how
does a camera work...
we can't also put all the blame on the ministry
cos we need to do more of self studies,..

Well let me tell you something.. i have been raised in a Islamic family and at the same time.. you can express your self.. we don’t have this thing called ana asti7i.. shy or what ever.. you have something to say , say it!!

i went to college here in Oman.. and when it came to my project i was in with 2 other girls in it.. so its suppose to be a group thing.. if we need to ask a question to out Doc they would go like Some1 you go and ask!! i keep on telling them girls its not right you know and when i ask then why its like im shy or my English is not good!! for GODS sake this is a university!! what are you still shy like a kid who’s only 3 years. old.. ok that’s something now when it came to the day were we are suppose to present out work ( presentation ) we agreed that each one has her part!! Fine.. i talked finished stood aside the other one comes she talks and i cant hear her!! i had no idea what so ever what was she talking about .. i guess she was whispering !!.. fine the 3rd girl came.. and she didn’t talk.. i had to cover up on her!! i said everything!! she was just standing there doing nothing.. aween she was shy!! hello girl but your losing marks here!! its really hard for them to talk!!
and when it came to the question thing i had to answer all the question.. i remember i was asked a question that i couldn’t answer so i was quite then the other girl knew how to answer it but she didn’t want to.. so she pointed out the answer to me in the paper and i said it!!

i mean Come-on!! this is to much.. when are we going to get out of this.. and at then end i got the 2nd highest mark in the class.. and i dont know how made they did!!

But its a sham sara7a and when i asked them why?? they said we prefer to lose marks then to talk in front of guys!!

then why the heck do you come to college to study?? i mean if my parents were the same i think i would have been like them.. but thankfully i wasn’t!!
Plus school doesn’t help them alot!! nothing new.. its like you go though all those years for the sake of just having your thanawia.. and that’s it!!
sorry if i have made it so long but i had to share what i have with you guys!

since i was in my first grdae untill i finished
school, everthing was the same...
there was nothing new except the name
everyday at 12 or 12:30 you have 20 minutes break
then the teacher has to chase you to enter your class
same food, same methods same timing, since i was
8 years old untill i finished at the age of 19

i wanted to feel the difference between me as a matured
guy and my little brother for once at least
no nothing,
you stay in the same room and from class to class the teacher will come to you, the books from the ministry are the only books we study, no projects no researches nothing
and whne you go to university they want you to do all of this and you don't even have a single idea about it, except the name offcourse...

so are we on the right track....??
are we changing or are we going to change this system
