I have always wondered why boys/men love the sport of Football i mean since they are small it is football..
What is it that this sport has that attracts them to it?

cool football :)
Its on my blood, you reminded me of tomorrow's vital clash between Liverpool and Coventry in the English premiership which I am going to attend with another 25000 supporters :)
I know I haven't quite answered your question but insha allah soon.
Do you know that footballers in England get paid as high as 30000 Riyal Omani per week....I’ll say it again 30000Riyal Omani per week like Roy keen who captains Manchester United. he is on 55000 British Pound/week.

i don't like foot ball but i might be able to help you with ur quest to get the answer!
these are the facts that i think keeps football as the No.1 game here:
1) you can play anywhere, from the street right infront of your house to the beach
2) most school kids play it at school, our teacher used to just throw the ball to us and we picks our teams and play!
3) parents might have played the game with their kids!
4) its a fun game, where you use your legs, and power to kick that darn ball around!
5) thats whats showing on the TV weither it was Super Sports or Oman TV!
6) like nzwani mentioned, if someone pays you R.O 30,000/- per WEEK! why wouldn't you want to be a pro?!?

you reasons there kamakazy make sense.... but isnt strange that nearly every boy/man are in love woth this particular sport?
To be honest I can’t set up my points in a correct order because we are talking about a sport that draws the attention of millions and millions around the world which really make it difficult for me to come up with satisfying reasons. However, I tried to mention some points that I think made football so popular.

Its a team sport which makes it so enjoyable because you join your friends for fun unlike many sports. yeah there are other group sports but failed to attract people. There is something special about football in using parts of your body that you don't use so often like head and chest. You use your hands and fingers in most sports and in most of your daily activities such eating, shaking hands, holding things, typing. In football you use your feet, head, chest...you see the difference....you try to prove that your feet, head and chest can be used in precious jobs in this case controlling a football. As kamakazy mentioned, there is no need for special arrangements, just a gang and ball then you are fine to start playing wherever, beach, park....etc.

Many young people see it as window for being famous and rich if not at the highest level but locally or nationally.

There are countless competitions for football unlike other sports. Here is a hierarchy starting from the smallest scale:
schools,
local teams,
clubs
regions
gulf countries
Arab league
Asian cup
world cup
There is hardly a day when you don’t hear about a match being played somewhere. Different age groups have different competitions, and how manly a teenager feels he eventually can do what BIG guys can do :)

Its another way of feeling your identity....we all remember the famous clash in the last world cup between Iran and USA. I remember all British media talking about that football match months before the kick off they even shown political programs between those two nations. The Iranians went to the match battling like they were in a war and when they scored the second important goal the attacker became a national hero and he was so close from crying. The same case when Al3robah plays Sur in Oman:).

The money in the game are just massive and unbelievable and you know when there is Money there is life because we are living in a material world (with exceptions).

Media recovery for football is just huge, even in economical or political papers there must be a page for football. TV channels should show football matches if they want to gain more audience.
I think I lost the plot here......I might just continue later on.
