View Full Version : Adults and Cartoons (Anime)
One day I was watching cartoon (Anime) and my friend sent me a message asking what I was doing. I told her that I was watching cartoon. She said that I’m being a child and I should grow up.
Why do most people think that watching cartoons is for children only?
What do you think of a person over 20 watching cartoons and enjoying it?

What do you think of a person over 20 watching cartoons and enjoying it? There is nothing wrong with watching Cartoon whether it's Anime or Disney or whatever Cartoons so tell your friend to chill and join you on the fun she is missing, i watch cartoons and i think i'll watch them untill i'm 100 years there is no shame in that, you can only be childesh from your acts not by watching cartoons so you go bou/girl and watch your cartoons
ps. is watching Shrek, Toy Story and now the new Finding Nemo
wrong according to your friend, i wonder?
4-ever-young 11-08-03, 01:35 PM well i personally not very intrested in cartoons...but i will watch especially if it is disney as they are the best in my opinion...
but my sisters in law have got me into watching manga cartoons and i am getting used to it!
I see nothing wrong with adults watching cartoons...
I don't only watch Anime, I also watch Disney too and i would like to have the whole cartoon collection someday.
Some of my friends consider Finding Nemo and Shrek cartoons so i don't thik they'll ever watch it. Toy story was one of the best and I'm willing to watch it again.

Libellula 13-08-03, 06:41 AM I'm not a big fan of cartoons, but I've got 2 little sisters who love them, and I often find myself watching some with them. I'd only watch Disney ones though, They're the best.
I'd have to say that my fave was Mulan. I loved that cartoon!
Oh, and I still get teary-eyed when I watch cartoons.. :duh:

I don't consider Shrek a cartoon
what I like to watch the best is Anime. I don't mind watching Disney movies though. Mulan was one of the best. I also enjoy watching any cartoon but not the ones today's children watch. I prefer the ones I used to watch when i was a kid. Ra3d al3emlaq, Granddaizer, Jonkar.... i won't stop if i go on :)
Why do most people think that watching cartoons is for children only?
Those are sad people really..and are kinda blocked and closed minded . i personally LOVE cartoons and i dont see anything wrong with it. maybe long time ago.. cartoons were aimed for children only..but now there are so many that are aimed for adults , such as all that japanese animation , and the pixar/disney cartoons.
What do you think of a person over 20 watching cartoons and enjoying it?
as i said above.. there is nothing wrong with it..and in fact those who do find that its wrong are the ones who are actually insecure about themselves.

good topic.. blood rose ;)

That's totaly true I mean most Cartoons these days like Anime are for adults and some of them children can't watch like fist of the north star (the movie). 9ara7a that is a classic and one of the best.
good topic.. blood rose ;)
Thanks :)
Alot of Japanese anime are targeted for adults where there is alot of violance, sexual scenes and other things that arent suitable for kids!
but the silly thing is we still find ppl making fun at their friend's for watching cartoons! they think a cartoon is anything like Tom & jerry and stuff like that!
as blood rose mentioned, Fist of the north star, this anime is full of blood and violance! i just saw the trailor and i was like *gross*
other than Japanese there is the Simpsons and Southpark[my favo] that are cartoons not suitable for kids[and maybe others i havent heard of]

Charmed 16-08-03, 04:10 PM Why do most people think that watching cartoons is for children only?
no idea.
What do you think of a person over 20 watching cartoons and enjoying it?
Well, I do watch cartoons and I am over 20, its fun and relaxing, if its not violent.
Blood Rose as i told you i only saw the Trailor and it had extreme violance, the trailor was old tohught maybe it was the earlier movie ~_~
you MUST try SOUTH PARK, its one of the funniest things i ever saw, well that is if you are OK with hearing swears and stuff!
i luv South Park and the simpsons !?
Milliardo Peacecraft 18-08-03, 04:49 AM Someone should really give people who think cartoons are for kids something like Neon Genesis Evangelion--they'll change their minds about animation simply for kids.
Neon Genesis Evangelion now we are talking
i find it very complicated even 10 hollywood movies cant make a story as good as it!

Well, they're going to make a live-action movie of this. Interesting how it will go, so it would be worth waiting.

I recognized the avatar but what I want to know is where can I find these animations? the ones I have I bought them from Malaysia, is there anywhere in Oman I can get them?
Homeless 23-08-03, 03:59 PM I think its alright for a grown up to watch cartoon!
She said that u were a child and u should grow up? well thats a bit harth. There's nothing wrong with it at all. It's not like u have this addiction or obsession about cartoons, so its fine to watch it whenever u like. Some cartoons have good morals and stories which makes a useful point and u can learn many lessons through them + they r fun!
Blood Rose :
there is a gamestore shop in Wadi Center, you can go there and rent animes, i am not sure if they have evangelion though,
i think one of my friends order from them they take around 13 R.O for a single DVD and it wont take alot of time to deliver.

To tell you the truth sometimes i can be obsessed  But I just say that you can not be judged ceing childesh just because you watch carttons. After all I don't care what pple say about me I just do what I enjoy.
Milliardo Peacecraft 24-08-03, 08:18 PM If money is no object, then you might want to get your anime stuff here: http://www.rightstuf.com/. Of course, getting a series like Evangelion can really break your wallet, so be prepared...
Is it as safe as Amazone? cuz my brother usually get DVD from there. And how long does it take till I get them? As for Evangelion I'll check at Amazone if they have any. Thanks Milliardo Peacecraft :)
Milliardo Peacecraft 25-08-03, 10:34 PM Generally I trust Right Stuf better than Amazon, since sometimes there are cases of pirated or fansubbed DVDs sold over at Amazon. At leat at Right Stuf you know you get the licensed anime titles. Processing usually takes a week, and all in all up to delivery it takes to two weeks. Of course, it also depends on what type of delivery you choose.
Thanks for the info. I'll try to check Right Stuf but could you plz provide me with the website. Cuz this is the first time I hear of it.
Milliardo Peacecraft 26-08-03, 02:39 PM Here's the link to Right Stuf again: http://www.rightstuf.com/. Of course, if you're familiar to Amazon, you should find their store very easily.
DeSerTDesTroYeR 26-08-03, 02:54 PM that shop Azx911 mentioned is the best i think around so far for Anime!.. they have a good collection..though they dont have Evangelion... the Last I checked... thats less then a month ago. But they have other very nice series which I saw.. Like Lain and Trigun and some others. Its worth checking out.
haso0on 28-08-03, 11:48 PM there is nothin wrong with grown ups watchin cartoons
people make CARTOON MOVIES
and they also special adult cartoon movies
so i dont think its only for children
darkend_soul 10-02-04, 05:29 PM well ots transfered 2 khamis shoes didnt see it though but heared  :eyes:
Blue_Chi 12-02-04, 07:54 PM I think that Anime movies are a work of art. Not only that you watch beautiful imagery and illustrations, but with all the music, and the tensions and everything. Anime are not like movies, limited by camera , time and space. The use of CG in movies now a days makes the difference less and less obvious between anime and acting movies. I wonder if Final Fantasy: The Spirites Within is considered an Anime or a normal movie, the whole thing was computer generated, yet it looked like a real life movie.
Anime movies are not for kids, movies of the rating of 15 or 18 are movies with real mature content, not only in terms of violance and sexuality, but also in themes, character and story wise. I love anime because they carry a whole different aura, the messages behind the movie, the emotions, the reflection and the thoughts; it is a whole different experience.

I’m one of the big fans of aniem and manga. I find them very interesting and cool. I like the way in which these aniems are drewn. It's just so nice and beautiful.
Many of my friends used to laugh at me when they hear me talking about aniem, but after showing them the kind of aniem I have got, they changed their minds completely.
