As I was practising dramat several weeks ago (while my tutor was away for abt 10 minutes) the car engine started burning... I jumped out of the car instead of switching it off... making matters worse...

Anyways, I discovered later that there's something called "heat indicator".. which you must keep an eye on.. had I known this earlier I could have noticed earlier that the heat indicator was rising..and alow the car to cool down..

My point is, before going on to teach how to drive, drving lessons should first aim to give us lessons on the ABC's of teh car engine... most girls are not familiar with things such us heat indicator.. oil indicator... etc.. example, most of us wouldnt know what to do if the car engine sudenly stopped..

we should be taught the inside-outs of the machine before we are taught how to operate it.. !!

p.s I'm over with teh fourth try and I havent passed yet!

its his mistake....and Allah salamik... good luck with the tries...

and you got very good points there.. it shouldnt be only for girls.. even guys... should learn about such stuff not all of them know what exactly what is what.

lol DD, I didnt really mean to ask the question "whose mistake?".. i just put it to get the member's attention :gap:

the reason I opened the thread is that I think there should be new strategies in the way driving tests/lessons are done...

it's not rocket science after all... just reading from a normal dial that has both indicators hot and cold.:D :D

thats what my father said

I didnt know beforehand it could cause a problem to the car.. I admit I'm kinda thick when it comes to the technical issues of cars..

Just be cool with it. I bet you'll pass the next time :)

...

Regarding the ABC's of cars, thats not what the driving instructors are there to teach. They teach you to drive.

So, if you want to learn ... ask them, and if they can, they will. Otherwise, their perimeter ends within clutch, brakes, ignition and steering handling :D

LoL!!
Salamaat Bimmi!

Inshalla you'll get it this summer :)
I got mine from the third try... and am still sure that i should've got it from the second :D

In some countries, training is done by well recognised companies. Who employ proffessionals for the training purposes.

But when we come to oman.... it's hard to implement this. As many have this as their only income.

yeap u are absolutely right sister bimmi,
every student should be taught about the engine oil level, clutch and brake oil level, radiator water level, battery acid level, steering oil level. all of these are important . every week i check the oils level.
when these things get low they will cause serious problem to the car engine.

brake oil and clutch oil are the same: some cars uses DOT2 oil and some uses DOT3 oil so be careful when u fill them.

steering oil: comes as red colour it is very important not to add to much otherwise its cover will pop out.

radiator water: some cars have only water, others have red colour and some have green colour and the bets one is the red/golden colour.

Bimmi, well you've passed your test now. lol, anyway, you're right, but when it comes to driving, I'm afraid, you have to teach yourself most of the things. I guess knowing the basics is what's important, like what the different icons in your car mean, so that if one of them flashes you'd know what is going on!
If you buy a car read the manual it usually tells you what you need!
I rememeber last semester while I was driving to school my oil icon started flashing, so I had to check my manual and know what to do. Turned out that since it was still yellow and not red, then it's safe to drive for sometime. So I'm afraid you learn it the hard way!
