i found this site and i said in mind that most of omani girls put henna in their hands in speacial occations..

Many women using henna is an Islamic alternative to Western nail polish. In fact, most women just don't feel fully dressed for the holidays or for weddings without it. Henna is often appied to the fingertips just to color the fingernails.
and i found lots of talented young ladies compete in making elaborate designs for brides..

Applying of Henna's pretty common during marriage cermonies, in Hindu weddings.

What a coincidence? :bored:

henna is very common...and most girls love it but i personally dont...it does look nice for the first few days but after that when it starts fading the coor turns orange and the smell is too much..so i usually dont put henna..and plus my husband isnt fond of it

Great idea Naughty & I really like henna especially the Emarty henna & very simpl designes...but I don't have time to put it alot or I get boared easily & becom esnoOpy to see how it will look like after washing it:p . But this is a tip from expert don't wash henna when u want to remove it, let it till it dry then put cream or oil so it's gonna get dark colour;) .

I like very simple hinna, and i like applying it on the back of the hand, cause it doesnt look very bad when the color starts fading.

well..its up to her then, as for me i'm gonna tell her that i love to see henna on your hand, and she have all the right to do it or not..if she put that means she loves me and she doesnt want to say no for me..and if she didnt put then that means that she loves me but not that much;)

For some reason i just can;t seem to like the smell of Heena, it really makes me like puking. It has been like over 5 years since i last put heena not till when i got married where it was like a must thing. Plus becuase my husband loves it than I guess thats one of the reasons i would have it done to me.

I don't think it's a MUST to put it on when you get married. It's just a tradition and most people (if not all) seem to follow it.

I can't stand it, so I don't think I'll be wearing any.. :duh:

Oh, I so disagree with you Phoenix!!! I simply love it, but not all ways of putting it.

I dont like it as an alternative for nail polish, but some of those artsy hand designs are beautiful. Plus, you can be innovative with it, like get a design around your ankle or belly button, or lower back etc.

I wish it was a part of my culture, but sadly it isnt. I still get it done sometimes, but people are like :duh: .

I still don't see how they can "force" someone to wear Henna if they don't want to. Theyre my hands so I'll do what I want with them! :angre:

I don't mind the smell of henna. I think it's normal. But I like how it looks on the hand.. I wouldn't mind putting henna when I get married, but I'll have to ask my husband whether he likes it or not..

Well, in some Omani families it's a must for them to wear henna and that's a fact. I have a friend who recently got married and whose family believe in "henna is a sign that she got married".. but she did not follow the rule, because she never liked henna. She ended up hearing too many stories on the day she got married that she was forced to get married to that man, or that she didn't want to get married :duh: you see how far this could reach!!

Henna is usually worn in occasions like weddings and all.. happy occasions. So when the bride, herself, does not wear the henna, the people around think that she's unhappy about what she's doing..

I Love Henna :D
If my husband will not like it then i think he would suffer for the rest of his life!
I didnt have it in my hand for a very long time but i would love putting it any time soon!

Tell us about the famous henna makers in oman, those who love henna where do you usually go to have it done nicely with new designs!
