Why do u think the commercial movement in Oman is not very active like many countries in the gulf or out the gulf??at 10 o'clock every one close his shop & goes to home even if there are customers out side!!:duh:
Do u think this affect the commercial sector in Oman??
I think it's kinda a balance taking into account that the consuming rate is not that high in oman!
There is a morning period and an afternoon one.
As a comparison, here in melbourne everything is closed by 6pm.
The difference is that they work on one period... from 9am to 6pm.
So it's kinda the same.
However it would've been better, in my opinion, if the timings changes on weekends.
One more thing... IS it their choice to close at 10pm?
Or is it ruled by the municipality?

I think its fair ...........I guess this rules mostly are done by shop owners as we don't have much of customers around to have 24/7 service opened.
Things like restaurants and entertainment industry tend to stay bit longer.
PS: El 7ilwa, I think we're doing good compare to west, where 5pm all shops are closed.

This is what I don't know my self?!!!
H-H:El 7ilwa, I think we're doing good compare to west, where 5pm all shops are closed.
I was thinking of the other arabic countries not the western, cauz some of my friends who are not Omani said that they can not stand how every thing is closing very early not like their country where most shops are opened till the morning some times & they can make shifts.
Isn't this better for both business, & the guys who are hanging around at night & find no where to go which leads them to crime world??!!

I wish shops in Oman would stay open till 10pm, but most close at 9 or 9.30. Very few stay open till 10. It's depressing, and I hate it. This one extra hour makes a whole world of difference to me.
I notice here that salesmen here are in such a hurry to close at 9pm that they'd shut the lights in the store while you're in it and ask you to leave even if you tell them you want to buy something. They don't care to make a sale, they just want to get the F out.

according to my knowledge, they dont have a rule or restriction. its up to the shop owner to stay open or close.
However, I wish at least if malls and shopping complexes copen at later hours. Especially at the summer, people tend to go out after Isaa prayer and thats 9 right now ,,, which means you have an hour only to enjoy a nice visit to the complex!!
