Play Station 2 (Sony), Xbox (microsoft), or Game Cube (Nintindo)? selma 20-07-03, 08:53 AM i would say Play Station 1/2 Why?? Because that is the only one that I know.. :p Quick Silver 20-07-03, 08:55 AM done deal... as long as you are recommending:D EviliO 20-07-03, 01:25 PM Didn't try Xbox..... but everyone say that it's upgradable and so on!! :duh: For god sake it's a game and you will buy the new versiuon once it's out!! PS2 is great, and i'll go for it! :) Blue_Chi 21-07-03, 01:11 AM The GameCube is a good console, but there are not pirated CDs because of it uses Mini DVDs. Though, it has one of the best game series, Mario, Resident Evil, Zelda, Metriod, Perfect Dark, and it even got Soul Calibur as well. Game wise, the PS2 is the best, I cannot think of anything good about the Xbox, you can even check this thread for more info, http://www.englishsabla.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=11683 Quick Silver 21-07-03, 10:13 AM thanks blue chi..... ok .. is it a good deal to buy a PS2 for $300 with the following features: > Includes controller, power cord, AV Cable & manual, and one brand new modified console with a 30 day warranty. > Plays all games including copies, import originals with no swapping or gameshark required! > PS1 PS2 DVDR EVERYTHING > Plays Dvd Movie-R > All units fully tested for 36 hours using 8 different kinds of recordable media (both cdr's and dvdr's) > Includes one EXTRA BEI TwinShock2 Controller (for a total of two controllers) > uses the powerful Magic 4.1 Chip I know that it's possible to buy a MOD chip by yourself and just install it, but I don't really understand much on the quality and features of those chips.... so what do you say? a stock PS2 would cost $150 only but I am not sure if the features above worth $150 more... Blue_Chi 21-07-03, 07:25 PM First thing, don't ever think of Chipping your console on your own. I cannot see anything REALLY special about the offer, and I can tell you, these features are not worth a $150 more. I chipped my console last month in the UAE for a 100 Darhmas only ~ And non licensed joy sticks are always crappy and break down easy, don't waste your money on this offer. Dr Diablo 22-07-03, 12:05 AM I prefer The PS2 because it has the best games and it's parts are aren't expensive and you can find lots pirated CD's, and it has more graphics than the gamecube... About the XBOX: it is very very large some of my friends said it's a Hunk Of a Junk.... but the good part is that the memory card is built in so u don't need to buy one... on more thing, the joysticks STINKS!!! So i recommend the PS2 grasshopper 20-08-03, 01:24 AM This is what i know about the consoles if its any help. The PS2 is the most established of the consoles so this brings a few benifits.. firstly the price is lower for the console, 2) there are more games available with more software companies pushing out games 3)prices of games for the PS2 tend to be lower especially when they reach platinum status. The X box is by far the more powerful console. Its graphics are currently the best on the market and look likely to stay that way until the new playstation arrives.. Its upgradable with updates coming packaged into the games programs which means its likely to be outshining PS2 in terms of power and performance for quite some time. There are not so many games available as with the PS2 but that is changing.. its a larger box as well which may put some off but they are releasing a new version shortly of the same spec but in a smaller box. The X box has one more advantage over the PS2.. its games contain dolby digital 5:1 surround sound.. PS2 have not achieved that yet that i am aware of because it does not have the power to cope with it. Both will play DVD.s and music cd's... The PS2 is prone to lag on its dvd player where the sound goes out of sync with the picture.. easily rectified by pressing pause then play again but it can get annoying.. Also PS2 has been getting some bad reports of late concerning reliablity where a good number of stations have reported to stop accepting discs shortly after the gaurantee runs out. Ive not heard of any such problems with the x box as of yet. As for the game cube. who knows. looks crap and nobody wants one so that means few games of any quality... Blue_Chi 28-08-03, 06:18 AM Hello Grasshopper I have really enjoyed reading yours post here! It is very true that the PS2 is the most established console and is the one with the biggest gaming library, the GameCube comes second, I believe the GameCube has the highest percetange of quality games of the three consoles as well. To tell the truth, this is the first time I hear of the PS2 difficiencies, but this could be only related to older versions of the console as there are lots of new updates that had been released. I have not faced any problems with my PS2 console and just as I have said previously, it is the first time I hear of what you have said. Talking about graphics quality, the XBOX is the theoratically the most powerful, but the best actual graphics are available on the PS2 in my opinion. It does not really depend on the system specifications but on how much effort the developers are going to spend on making the grapics, the PS2 has the best developers making games on it, after that the GameCube and the last is the Xbox. Correction The PS2 games do support Dolby 5.1 surround, it also has an optical output and an iLink for data transfer. The PS2 migh not be as powerful as the Xbox in terms of numbers when it comse to specifications, but I see the console having almost all that is required to make the best all around console. The greatest advantage of the Xbox is that it has a built-in hard-drive and modem, while the PS2 has these sold seperatly, and they are EXPENSIVE, but still, for people like us in Oman, that is better because if it was sold be default with the console it would have costed us more and we would have never used them anyway! Anyway, lol... No matter how powerful the console is, it is all how much fun it provides, and of course these come from the actual games that you play on the console, and this is where the PS2 really shines. grasshopper 28-08-03, 01:43 PM Blue Chi No matter how powerful the console is, it is all how much fun it provides, and of course these come from the actual games that you play on the console, and this is where the PS2 really shines. I couldnt agree more and thanks. im glad you enjoy my posts. whats the point in buying the most powerful console if it doensnt have the games you like. For example. Gran Tourismo has only ever been available on the PS/PS2 format.. and that is the precise reason why i own a PS2. i love that game. to much emphasis is placed on graphics in a lot of games and the developers forget to produce anything that is playable for a long time. I was not aware the PS2 had Dolby 5:1.. i know it does for its DVD player hence the optical output but its games as far as i know have not been produced with Dolby Digital as of yet.. although i did hear a rumour that Gran Tourismo 4 will have it. The problem with the PS2 seems to have been kept pretty quiet. .the most i have heard about it was a kind of watchdog report where alarming numbers of them had developed problems.. Like you though. no problems with mine yet.. fingers crossed it will stay that way.. Happy gaming Chi.. |
