View Full Version : out of station mods
this is coming from Xpress thread "out of station but will be back soon" where there's a list of the mods holidays.
it would be nice and more professional to nominate other mods who can take over the responsibilities of the mods on leave. this will make it easier for members to know who they should contact in case they require help or for whatever reason.
asst admins are here incase anything is needed. if any member see's anything wrong in a particular sabla where the mod is on leave..then he/she can just P.M any of the asst admins..and we'll see what we can do about it.
we know that nabhan but my feeling is if you can cover for two mods as well as doing your own job then you don't really need those mods.

well...time comes when we admins get busy with our lives and so we cant really take care of everything everytime.
every mod around is assigned for cause he/she is needed here , otherwise he/she wouldnt be assigned.

Do you have anything interesting to add here other than just that? it would be nice of u to give us ur exact opinion on the matter.

That be an ideal sugguestion Big Mo... but the process of selecting a Temp Mod... isnt that easy or even applicable in most cases for Adminstration reasons. And as Nabhan said, in case a mod or more is away for any particular reason. The Asst. Admins, admins and even the other Mods can be contacts and consulted or informed of any issue in hand. As each would report it to the rest of the team.
So basically its much approperiate for the Asst. Admins and other Mods to cover for the (away) Mod rather then temp adding someone to cover for them.
DD, you completely misread my post. i was asking for existing mods to cover for each other with u guys telling us in that xpress thread who's covering for who.
it just makes things clearer and everyone knows where they stand. i.e. 4ever went on her honeymoon but who was covering for her in the general sabla issues????

Big mo, oh! yes i did..:D ok ok...i thought you considered new temp Mods... my wrong...
alright..hmm based on the new idea, I partially explained it. As all other mods cover for the away mod, there wouldnt be a particular mod for the task.
And as I tried to explain before.. no matter which Mod contacted, that mod would inform the rest of the team if something needed to be done.
Each Mod has access to only the sablas' they are assigned to. So for an action to be taken. Only Super Mods, Asst. Admins and the Admin can make it.
hope that clears this out. Though thanks for bringing it up to make it more clear. :)

that's exactly my point. if the asst admin is away for the day (for one reason or another) and there's something wrong in a sabla where it's assigned mod is on leave what do we do?? wait for the asst admin to come back while they could be pornagraphic material on the site!!!
it's just a suggestion to make this place more professional.

don't have the time and the dedication. if you read carefully i'm not asking for new mods to be introduced :bang: :bang:
u seem to jump ino conclusions without reading the posts.
Chill Mo, chill. I'm sure the guy was just teasing ;)
Anyways, it's not a bad idea.
I've always thought it would be good to have an Alternate Moderator who covers for anyone who's not around.
Yes the Asst. Admins and the other mods do fine covering but that's more work for them. And it makes more sense just to have someone ready to subsitute.
Just like clubs and offices; each person has their position but they have an alternate officer too....

You mean a standby moderator for each sabla or just one in general?
There should be a plan in the sabla where all members can elect one moderator ... maybe every 6 months or so!
Once those 6 months are done, someone else steps in and the earliar one steps down ... that way, members will be more happy too ;)
Mo ... chill mate ... I am already renouned as a gutsy popcorn member :D
i'm cool shinoda. we would lose consistencey if we have elections every 6 months. all we're asking here if 4ever went on leave then DD, AP or someone covers for her the general sabla. this standby mod should be giving all 4ever facilities. simple and makes the place look well managed.

some how we r working through a good enough mechanism by which we do assign moderators to cover up the other absent one!
now two mods being away same time can happen and hence we have our alternative ways to deal with such a situation
we have 2 asist.Admins now (my self and Nabhan)
and 1 super mod..(4ever young)
and an admin!
makes us 4 with almost full power avaliability to access all the sablas...so YES we do arrange our selves
the current sitiuation that we r going through nowdays is realy rare! (never happend before) however I dont think that we could not manage it so far? didnt we?
4ever young is back withing the comming few days :) (inshallah)
nabhan is around...am as well around
Any ways The suggestions and the concerns above are highly appreciated... Thanx alot :)

ok cool... now the sugguestion is more clear. And yes it is a good idea... but as thug explained. The team already knows before hand, if any of the Mods has to be away for any reason. Once that comes to place, we discuss on how to take care of the Sabla they take care of it. And in the absence of that Mod the 4 full accessability members of the team (or the ones avaliable) are incharge of doing the tasks there...but as you mentioned in case they cant be there...
well nothing is definite, even if we assigned an alternative Mod to that Sabla ... how can we gurantee that Mod wont get busy too?
So overall it gets balanced out. And for sure... the team would keep this in mind if required.
thx for the sugguestion.

Big Mo, usually when a mod is going on leave he inform the administration and we know exactly that we need to cover him/her for that particular period.
You brought a good point and maybe our mistake is that we discuss it in the admin and don't let the member know who will be then in charge.
Every time a mod goes on leave or is absent, the assistant Admin, the Super Mod and all the nominated moderators are there to cover up for him/her and help if something needs to be done.
If the Assistant admin goes on leave, again the Administrator and the Super Mod are in charge of the control panel, while the rest of the moderators will cover up the sablas under his name.
Conclusion, members can contact any moderators if there is any problem no matter in which sabla it is. We are there to assist you an any time :)
