View Full Version : Big or small?
Would you prefer a huge lavish wedding or a small private one?
If given the choice would you want a wedding at all? Or would you prefer just a really luxurious honeymoon???
If you are already married, what did you do?
if it were up to me ...i guess i wouldnt have any wedding at all. but since its not..and am sure my family would want something to be done..then i would rather have something simple with close friends and family only!
it really doesnt matter to me to be honest..and i would go with whatever makes my wife happy.
the title of this thread is misleading:eyes: :duh: i thought u were talking abt something else.
back to ur topic; in salalah we don't believe in the concept of small wedding. the whole town has to be invited. i knew about 10 ppl from all the attendees!!!!! so yes mine was big. it was a traditional salalah wedding, three day festival.
honeymoon was in London cause i was working there at time.
Muscati 16-07-03, 08:47 AM Even our small weddings are big compared to Europe and America. Here a small wedding is one that has like 300 guests and a large one might have 1000 or more. In this context, I was going to have a small wedding and finally ended up with about 530 guests. I didn't to have a wedding at all, but I accepted the fact that the wedding is the bride's night and every girl dreams of her wedding night all her life. We started with a plan for having 350 guests but then the number kept creeping up. I'm so glad the Hyatt ballroom only has capacity for 525 guests or else the number would have kept going up.

i can see you know nothing abt salalah!!!!!! the only place where males mix with females in salalah is nursery school and they're abt 3 or 4 yrs old.
Muscati 16-07-03, 08:55 AM I wanted a mixed wedding but my wife's family is more traditional than mine so I decided on a compromise. It was a women's only wedding until I came in. So the women did their own thing and when I came in around 11pm I brought in my friends and men from my family with me and it became more of a mixed wedding from then on.
Goodness gracious me! So how many women attended?????

we had a 3 day thing. one night was for men, one night for women and the last night is the BIG night and i was late for that, i locked myself in the room and watched live football, Barcalona Vs Newcastle in the Champoins league. the game ended 3-2 to Barcalona with Rivaldo getting all the goals. i just couldn't miss live football!!!
Navigator 16-07-03, 09:07 AM Well, mine was very small one and few people were invited , i guess it's better than a a messy big one !

About parties I'm not a big fan for them & I get tired easily in such events so I prefere no party, but as most of teh guys said abive it is not up to us my family wont satisfied with less than 2000+ guests & if we count the other part guests maybe it's gonna reach 4000+ guest:scary: :tiered: .....so I would better stay at home & satisfy with my beautiful & comfortable life:angel:

Wanderer 16-07-03, 08:59 PM Oh, I see that this is about weddings.
That would change my answer.
all that matters to me is the hotel room after the wedding.....where i will turn into tarazan and she'll be the nurse

raffee, the majority of the weddings in Oman are women only and a gathering of 500 of them is rather normal. For a big wedding of 700 to 1000+ people, it means the same amount of women only and believe me they can be find everywhere!
My wedding was small as I didn't do it where I was living then. I left Arizona where I graduated and did my wedding in Miami, at the Fountainbleau Hotel. My in-laws, family members and best friends flew to attend it. It was small but extremely beautiful and private.
As for my honeymoon, though I would have been happy with something smaller, we did end up in a wanderful carribean cruise...and I don't regret it.
I am not at all for any extravagant and lavishing wedding and believe that it is nice to go in a new place to spend a honeymoon.
