Through many years, especially this one, I’ve heard endless stories about the deaths of innocent children. What really bugs me is the fact that it could’ve been stopped.

The first true story (happened this year):
An eight year old boy and his little brother were playing behind their house on the heaps of sand, which were there for some reason. Both the boys began to dig deep into the ground so that they could make a tunnel, and for some reason the eight year old kid went into the hole and the whole heap of sand collapsed on him. The small kid ran to the neighbours but by the time they arrived his brother was dead.

The second true story (This month!!):
A small kid (3 years old, according to what I heard) found her dads car opened and rushed inside. She closed all the locks, her idea of a game or something, and was found 2 hours later dead due to suffocation and the heat.

We hear so many stories... but its time to express our opinions. What do you feel towards the situtation currently? Who is to blame for these deaths? Do you think all accidents can be prevented?

It's really sad to hear such stories ! They happen everywhere !

The 1st one to blame is the parents in my opnion ! Although we hear things like that happen to many people , even our relatives ! But none take a proper action to stop it !

Parents should know the whereabout of their kids at all times ! and keep an eye on their kids .

This is really sad, but it's true that so many of these deaths could have been prevented.

I don't think that it is safe to leave children alone (even at home!) without adult supervision. A child should be watched all the time, and shouldn't be left alone in a place that is not 100% safe for even a second. Anything can happen. :(

That's so sad and of course the parents are to be blamed.
But sometimes SOME accidents just happen and you can not prevent them.
May God protect us all. (Ameen)

The blame falls on the parents, they should take good care of their childern not to let them go anywhere tht isnt safe, I mean some parents let their lil kids play in the street! god i mean anythin could happen to them!!
Such careless parents shouldnt have kids in the 1st place, it isnt juss a matter of giving birth to a kid n throwing him here and there, I dont think such a person should be called a parent,
however its true tht some accidents happen even with veryyyyy careful parents, but however they should take care of their childern n then leave the rest on god, not to leave it all 2 god n not take care of their kids!!

I do agree that accidents happen in a split of a second and can be out of our hands.

However, there are many that could have been avoided like the second story given in Cerulean's post. If the kid was just 3 years old, how come he was left for more than 10 minutes without supervision?

What upset me the most is to see so many unecessarily deaths in Europe or in the States, because the parents left their kids alone at home or worst, they let them go to their friend's house or at school on their bike or by foot alone.

So many cases of abduction or brutal rapes and killing are done to these innocents children. Some parents never seem to learn and though many cases were shown on tv, they still let their kids free on the streets.

(ps: Not sure if this thread should remain here or be moved to the Problems Sabla)

I heared above story and I believe it's true.

Now the question is shouldn't we link a working wife to such problems, I know that you will say it's not fair to blame women, but most of such problems happend when the couple go to work leave the kids at the house with the maid. If their mother is at home she she will take care of them alot compared to leaving them to strangers.

Well IceTea you are sorta right. But still there are many mothers who are careless, so whether they are there or not, the accident would've happened.

Another point: We hire maids to look after the kids fully. So they should be blamed for the accidents to a certain degree. Like the case in the second story, Couldn't they realize the kid was missing for like 3 hrs ?!?!

indeed its sad to hear of such accidents. and i guess that parents should be very careful when looking after their kids to prevent such things. one shouldnt just leave his/her 3 year old child to wander around alone, or leave his 8 year old kid without supervision.

Wonderful topic.

It’s irritating when you see parents who never pay attention to their kids. When their kids will spend more then 7 hours playing outside! This is truth I’ve seen tons and tons. We shouldn’t just blame the women! I mean most nowadays men need their wife's support at home! Like paying some of the expenses. So how do you expect them to pay full attention to their kids? They need rest and all. I Blame Life! Living is getting so expensive nowadays where parents can’t really reveal staying at work! They have to leave their kids on a risk! Only wealthy people or the ones who have enough for living then these stuff wont happen. People were much simpler in the past then now. And such accidents happen! Sub7an alla. May god prevent those accidents from our lovely kids?

There is one thing that was spinning in my head. CAR SEATS in the west its within a Law. A KID Have TO sit in a car seat. Headed carefully. But unfortunately in our countries such an incident is very rare to view. U sees a kid in a mother’s hand without and life protection. She protects herself with a seatbelt but the poor kid just only by her hands. And when an unexpected accident happens the kids just jumps far away out of the window :(

I hope kids can get much more attention then they do nowadays. by advertisment or general knowledge!

well i think these accidents occur only when parents are careless. Today, our world i mean our Omani society totaly relies on house maids this is what happens. Fathers' job is only to provide the family financially and the mother either working or roaming around or even watching TV switching from one channel to another. and the kids are left with maids. The maids play a big role in the family nowadays, they look, cook and even teach kids homework. Come on i think it's ABOUT TIME FOR MOTHERS AND FATHERS TO TAKE THEY ROLES IN THE FAMILY...... :fire:  :(

As usual women are to be blamed ... Icy you need to know well the whole story and about what happened this 3 years old. Its true story which happened couple of weeks ago. Now, it wasn't the mother to be blamed for this tragedic accident, it was a father who went to pickup his kids from summer school (about 4/5) of them.

At the time they reached home the 3 yrs old was sleeping in back seat and all got down except him/her but the father was so ignorant to check if all were out, I think he was the first one to enter in the house while he should have been the last one, after the final checking: fire:

So again should the mother be blamed for this....... anyhow I do believe accidents do happened and all are predestine things that we don't have control over it. May allah bless his/her soul.
