Human Cloning Debate

The use of cloning to produce "Dolly" the sheep has prompted a public debate about cloning humans. Cloning is the process of creating an embryo from the DNA of a single animal. If carried to term, the embryo develops into an exact genetic double of that animal. This issue quickly became linked with the issues of abortion and embryo research.

When Human Cloning becomes safe, should it be legal ? :confused:

cloning is an important invention in the field of medcine . In cloning , a cell from an animal or even a human being of whom a copy is required is to be taken and evacuated from all it's contents and is to be filled with contents from another cell . This cell is then trasplanted in a female of the same species . This cell then devides and grows into an embryo which is similar to the original creature . however , scientists believe that a cloned human will be born deformed but even though I think the most important problem which will face the international society will be the following question " Who are the parents of the cloned human ":confused: :confused:

you should know the Islamic prospectives of cloning i would suggest !

As far as cloning animals is concerned, as long as it's safe I don't see what's wrong with it.. It can benefit us greatly if we cloned healthy stock/sheep/cows/etc.

However, when it comes to cloning humans that's completely differeny. I'm totally against that idea.

Human Cloning is always an interesting topic because it would involve duplicating a complete person..not just physically but mentally as well. Chances are that both people would think exactly the same - or not at all, making them mindless and therefore useless. People would no longer be individual.
The weaknesses in ppl would also be duplicated - not just the strengths. Cloning also becomes a moral issue as well in terms of spirituality - would the soul also be cloned?

Cloning at the moment comes with a lot of risks, it would have to be completely safe before becoming legal. And hey, if u think about it, is cloning really necessary? Isn't the Earth already overpopulated?:lost:

Anything 'man made' can never be 100% safe. We can't accept to legalize something which is religiously immoral, if not very dangerous to the human species and the future of this world.

for me i will like to have it legalized but with limitsations ... i know plenty of diseases that can be treated and totally cured by clonning, e.g. Diabetes which is very common in Oman and over the world ...
clonning can give us the cure ...

I think Cerulean was asking if we agree to see "Human" Cloning legalized, not "cell" cloning which is a big difference. Would you agree to have a duplicate of you and be able to keep duplicating "him" till the end of time?

Well through history and even through science humans invented many things but all Never Perfect! and that is applicble to Humans cloning!

Would that person who cloned a human bare the consequences of his mistake and the possible suffering of that person that was cloned cause there was a mistake or un explained reason for the cloning fault?

It was proven that cloned animals age faster!!! doesnt this click to ur minds and trigger awarness!!! meaning...ITS NOT SAFE AND WILL NEVER BE SAFE! simply cause its Humans hand made we can bare with machines errors BUT Humans!!!

Even with out inventions of machines and stuff it came out to have 2 uses..BAD EVIL and Good...have we been able to control this???

How can u expect that by cloning which has a very obvious bad side can be controled??? Tomorrow u will see 500 Hitlers and 600 NAPELONS!!!!?? Familial corruptions...6th grandfather is still alive with his grandsons to come!!! (copy offcourse!)

Genetic studies has its benifits for medicine BUT as such cloning a whole Human being is a NO for me!

I think it should be legalized with limitations... although there are moral & ethical issues associated with it but we can never know until we try it out!!

Scientists should never play God and again God will never create two identical persons with the exact same genes and DNA. There must be a very good reasons why HE didn't do it before us.

Seham, do you imagine if there were 2 exact replicas of you or 100 you!! You and all your exact copies can be here today, tomorrow, in 300 years and after 1000 generations!

Don't you think it is crazy and it would be even scary? Should we play with humain beings like that? I don't mind cloning of cells to repair a damaged organ, but not cloning people. It is a scientific fact that full humain cloning can produce monsters too! Do we really need that?

The United Kingdom's government, in January 2001, was the first government to legitimize cloning of human embryos for stem-cell research as long as the cloned embryos are destroyed no later than 14 days after having been created!
To date it is still not totally legitimate to clone a full grown humanbeing because of the unpredictable consequences as you have mentioned earlier, they either die early or may have unpredictable mutations which may render them violent or fatal etc.

However, with continuing research but in a wise legitimate way.. you never know where science will lead us?!

Where ever the science will lead us humans will remain unable to know anything about the soul nor they can determine the age of the person. What is the point of having two heads looks the same!!

Human cloning is something against the nature. And anything against the nature will be up normal.

Seham, when it comes to the creation of a human being, there is only one creator and it is Allah (God). No matter how far science goes, it will never replace the original print of Allah.

Therefore, we will have to always worry of what can be the consequences of playing with such genes. If abnormalities are not showing at the beginning of any cloning, they might appear at any later stages and to which form is the main concern here.

I do agreed with animals cloning ...but i would't if it cames to human Coz we have got clear legislation to follow.

I totally do not agree with the idea of cloning a human being because nobody can ever do it !!!!! astgfur allah ! i mean nobody can create a human being because human beings have god something special tht god gave them not not any other creature or thing god created has and that is naf5at il roo7 (Soul) how can humans create souls??!?!? i don't understand what their trying to do o second thing its against nature ?!?! like if something is already dead why bring it back to life again it's its time to die !!.....
