when nowadays kids little grow up they dont ask for BARBY, REMOTE CONTROL CAR or ect. as we used to do and see in past. but now when a kid pass 4th class ask his father for Mobile !
it sounds so stupid to see a kid using nokia 3310 ( arnoob ) and giving MISS CALLS to all his phoneBook in hope that some one call him/her back.

- if you are the father or mother and your kido ask you for a mobile .. do u accept and get him/her a mobile ? :duh:

when they will be old enough to go out by themselves I will buy them a mobile phone but not before that

yeah that sounds reasonable and a perfect time to buy them a mobile......

mobiles are good for safety when a child is out alone but the mobile can be a great nuisance and disruptor in class rooms....

Sure not:duh: , Kidds are kidds & have no responsibilities to need a mobile...Y I go too far my bros & siss can not ask for one till they finish their high school & if they need it for some thing they can use mine or dady one...But giving your kidds mobile is a big mistack & might causes many prbs.

i won't ever give my kid a mobile ..because he/she is still a KID ..if they know whats best for them why do we call them kids then?!:duh: ..besides that, kids are not allowed to go out alone or come late in the middle of the night so theres no need to have a mobile at thier age .. i think the best age for having a mobile is after highschool (as al7ilwa said)

one shouldnt let his/her kids get used to having anything and everything they want. when the time is right..and if they deserve it..then they shall get it..but other than that..i see no reason to spoil them by giving them such things.

not only with mobiles..but anything really. i think we should teach them from the start..that if they wants something ..badly ..then they should work for it. rewarding them with a gift after doing well in school..or by achieving anything positive , is a nice thing..and would actually help in developing good characteristics in them.

I disagree with this particular point Nabs. I don't think you should reward your child with a gift for doing well in school. This will lead to him/her only studying and wanting to do well FOR THAT GIFT. I think doing well in school is something compulsory . Praise and showing them you are proud is enough but you shouldn't reward them with material things. That takes away from the idea/goal of WHY they should be getting good marks and motivates them in the wrong way....

Children especially in 4th class do not need a mobile at all what ever the case may be. I think the right time to give children mobile phone may be when they come in 7th or 8th class.

Besides, the waves or signals which reach your mobile phone harm your phones...therefore i definately would not give a mobile phone to my kids.........

As long as the child is responsible (some kids are), and they actually NEED a mobile phone for a valid reason (such as when going out without company) then i don't see why he/she shouldn't have one. Children in the 4th grade shouldnt definitely NOT have a mobile phone. It's simply ridiculous!

As for rewarding children when they do well in school, I think that a reward every once in a while would be nice (to encourage them), as long as there are LIMITS and the child does not grow up expecting something in return when he/she is asked to do something. Now that would be wrong.

A kid with a mobile, it's silly! I mean why would a child need a mobile? Business? Important issues that can't wait?

I don't think that a child should have a mobile. Many reasons, one of them is that they don't really need it. Then there's the problem of them talking to the wrong people on the phone, without the parents knowing.
The common excuse is that the parents want to know where the child is when he/she is out, simple, they can give them their phone if it's that important, no need to go and get them their own!

well this is what we see nowadays, i find parents are irresponsible for giving their kids mobiles, what if the call 999 or another numbers, i mean it doent make sense to me a kid with a mobile , we used to see a kid walking with their parents in malls with their toys in their hands and now mobiles in their hands. that's too sad really. my kids wont have mobiles untill they are in high school inshaalah.

I guess as people become more influenced by the "modern world and living" it gets to all parts of society. Adults and children. It's something you should expect. A lot of you might say (right now) that you won't give your children a mobile phone, but you might change your mind later for various reasons. I just have a feeling that as much as you complain about this.. in the end you will give in. Look at us now.. we have some things that our parents never had, and they told themselves they wouldn't give us these things or let us do certain things, but they do in the end.

well if my kid asked me to by hem a mobil i will ignore hem of course antel he get bord from it

Well My daughter she is 7 and she has already ask for a Mobile phone, smart enough she even choose type of mobile she want:D I didnt ignore her but I told her that she dont really need a mobile at that age but InshaAllah when she is old enough I will get her one, she was happy and she didn't ask again:D

well..i dont think it is the right age to to give kids mobiles as many of you said..coz in this age which is between 10-16, the kids usually ask for many things, they ask for things which their frinds have and they dont, they ask also to go out with their friends to a very late time, they ask to drive cars, they ask for many things..

anyways i dont agree that we should give them mobiles from this early age..
