The education system in oman has been changed recently to the concept of basic education ..
alot of things in the system has hanged from the content of the education of elementary schools to the inclusion of computers in schools ..
One thing I would like to discuss here .. in basic eductaion schools are mixed from grade 1 till 4 ..
I want to ask you what do you think about boys and girls studying togther from grade 1 till 4?

I alos think that there is no harm in mixing boys and girls in schools especially that they are younge and I dont think they will see it differently .. it will actually be better so the guy wont be afraid from the girl and can integrate latter with her ..

The Basic education is based on independence and self study that should raise a child to open his/her mind and think wisely instead of always being told what to do.

I don’t really oppose the mixing as long as the teachers be aware of what’s going on between students and also the continuous guideness that families should provide to young kids. But I am wondering how the psychological situation of those students gonna be when they are split up after the fourth grade.

good point nizwani ..
what might the kids feel when they are separated after grade 4 ?
but .. in the olden ages .. small girls used to mix with guys when they are taught Quran .. and then when they are getting a bit older they are seperated from me .. I guess kids know it is our culture and they would accept it ..
even now .. In private schools girls study with guys .. but some are switched in between studeies to government schools where they study with only girls and they dont get affected ..
Mixing with guys when kids are small does not mean we should not teach them our culture and religion .. I guess the girl will see her mother not mixing with men and she will have the same attitude .

by mixing boys and girls.... both genders get used to eachother and learn how to mix and work with others in a normal mature well-mannered way. If both genders are always seperated, it gets soo tempting for both that they might end up doing even more bad stuff. Giving them the chance to learn how to handle each other, work together as in teamwork, share ideas, get to know each other..... & will make life much more easier and simpler when they grow up.

SaLaM...

WeLL i Don'T There's anYThinG WronG WiTh MiXinG BoYs & GirLs iN SchooLs....
I think it helps both genders to communicate much better....if guys and girls don't communicate in schools...and then go to univercity out of Oman....or any other GuLf country...they won't be able to communicate easily with the female students...

Thats my point of view...

i go to a mixed school..and i don't find anything wrong with it...

I don't think mixing is gonna change anything.... i am saying this cause I was once mixed in a private school till sixth grade and then I attended a public shcool for the rest of the journey.....the only problem that i had was missing my old friends, rather than that I found it normal........ what I am wondering about is: what if a student fails 1st grade once, second grade once, and third grade once or any combination of these ..... this guy will be at least 12 years old by the time he/she in 3rd grade....... now mixing could be a problem!!!! and they should take precautions about that......especially in a society like ours.......

well .. so all of us agree that mix scholls in early stages is not a problem ..
about the failing one .. I am not sure .. but as I understod that in basic education there is no failing in first classess .. I agreee compltly with it .. how come u make a kid of 6 years fail !!! .. he will just be disapointed and hate school and it isnt liekhe doesn't have teh ability to proceed to the next year .. most topics are very realted in these years and he can manage to study them slowly slowly .. instead ofexamining him and failing him !!!!
