I would like to open a new subject since every body asking to post in this sabla.

Do you think it's an important to get a master degree now a day, especially in such situation as our country when it's difficult to find a job?

Your question is incomplete, hedaya, before you take Masters there are prerequisite such as obtaining a bachelor and then probably work for one to two years before applying for masters.

Other people are on job and may go on behalf ministries for example and other on their own.

Masters is higher qualification like any other educational qualification and suggests that should not be aligned with Jobs.

If you have a job and have your Bachelor and not ambitious I suggest you remain where you are.

Thanks for your clarification, but lets specify it, some times you couldn’t find a job with just bachelor degree especially if you looking for a high salary, but still believe working for one or more years its kind of giving you some experience.

But I don’t agree with you in not aligned the Master Degree with a job, why? It’s help a lot in getting a good position rather than a normal employee.

Finally, I am an ambitious person and I like to widen my knowledge and experience and that can happen by asking for high education. What do you think?

Are you saying that it is difficult to get a job while you have a degree if you are looking for better job but it is easy to get a job if you have a Master, is that so ?.

Do you have a job or not ?.

If not and you can still afford to go for master then go for master or PHD, the more you get higher education the better and will always benefit you better no matter where you live or the time.

I think that the issue of having a master degree is contaversial depending on the intention of the indiviadual.
For those who have alreaddy got a job with their Bachelor degree, seeking master degree is a good idea to get promoted or at least to differentiate you among the aother staff members which will raise your potential to get promoted.
For those guys who are seeking knowlede for knowlede, master degree is STRONGLY recommended,needless to say why!

I think job opporunities availbality and master degree are mutually exclusive! I think so...

Well .. as the previous members adviced you hedaya .. it all depends on your plan for your future ..
One advice i give to u .. dont take education as a way to find a job or improve your position on work .. because it will make you concentrate to study to get high marks in teh exam but dont really know the hidden facts there .. learn to improve your self .. your mentality ..
I agree that everyone should think high to get a master and a PHD .. because in oman we are still developing and need those expertise to place the forigners we have ..
however, you should also think about you being a woman and that u need to have a family to take care of .. and will that stop you from obtaining higher education or not ..

What your specialization by the way ? this might help knowing how you can improve your knowledge and if u need a master or not?

The education is so important that when u apply for a job, they don't ask u what experience u have, they ask u what qualifications do u have!!

will from one point of view it is just a paper like the driving licence, it doesn't determine if u're good at driving. If u have experience in something and u don't have the paper oh..no one will look at u!!!
but finaly i say u have to get qualified to get a good job these days cause they will look at the papers!!

degree, my advice is study for the sake of studying, because you want to learn, not stduy for job...
but if you want to study to find a job it doesnt necessary has to be the government, you can go to the priveat sector or you can start you own bussines....
Just study at least it will help to knwo more about life..

Hello Hedeya....this is a great subject.
I think that in Oman or anywhere in the world, having a masters degree will make someone more competitive. I also think that what they teach in Universities is very different from real life. What I mean is that there is a big gap between The theory we learn in College versus the practice. And unfortunatly in the working world, one doesn't exclude the other. You need the experience and the knowledge to be successful, as well as competitive. Now in Oman, since there are so many foreigners, in order for Omanis to become more competitive, they will need the qualifications (masters, or PHD) as well as the experience in that field. If they have one without the other, they have a problem. Nothing is easy in life... It will take sacrifices, and a lot of hard work to make it in this world!
