View Full Version : 7ayak SMS is HERE!
DeSerTDesTroYeR 31-05-03, 02:57 PM finally..the 7ayak users can use the SMS..services...started today...i've noticed with a number of sms..i recieved. Been told its in the newspapers too. Got to check that out.
so the wait is over  .....and its for freee for a month.... but starting the next the prices will be declared. And that be interesting
I heard that the prices will be more expensive than the ordinary ones...... ie. more than 10 baisa...
Muscati 31-05-03, 05:13 PM Doesn't anyone read the paper in this country. It's right there on the front page of every newspaper today. The service begins tomorrow. It'll be free for one month. Then it will cost same as normal GSM sms. The only difference is that you need to recharge with a different card. You can't use a normal 3 rial Hayyak card to charge your sms. You have to buy a separate SMS card.

why do they try to make everything harder for people
DeSerTDesTroYeR 31-05-03, 06:23 PM mux: it actually started already..... maybe officially tommorrow, but alot of them already got the service.
----------------
qais: well i guess cause its easier for them and probably for statistical reasons.
Muscati 31-05-03, 08:29 PM The reason the Hayyak SMS card is separate is because it works on a different system. Omantel engineers devised the system themselves rather than buying a ready made system from the company that designed the Hayyak system. Read this:
"The Hayyak SMS card called Al Momayaza (the distinguished) will have its own system with various characteristics, said Al Wohaibi. Besides providing SMS service, it will help in payment of both fixed and GSM telephone bills in future.
Presently, Al Momayaza card valued at RO 2 will be limited to Hayyak SMS. The SMS charge will be the same as GSM rate, ie 10 baisa per local message and 50 baisa per international message. In future, Omantel will issue Al Momayaza cards of higher denomination upon activation of related services. Al Momayaza is not amalgamated with the normal Hayyak telephone service and can be downloaded on cellular phones to enable SMS and other services. It will display the number of messages sent and when dialing a number, it links with service (1144) for balance crediting.
The wireless system will also allow homing of other services provided by the government and or private establishments such as secondary school examination results, medical appointments in hospitals, payment of parking fees or inquiries about traffic violations, arrival and departure schedule of flights and inquiries of telephone and Internet bills."
DeSerTDesTroYeR 31-05-03, 09:33 PM sounds interesting...thx for the info... mux.
4-ever-young 31-05-03, 09:53 PM well it about time...!!
And it did start today as my friend sent me a message from her hayyak number..
Cool Water 31-05-03, 10:12 PM The 7ayyak started sending msgs, and ours has been screwed up!!
I have been facing problems sending msgs since last night. And it got worst today. I tried sending a msg to someone and it failed over 10 times!!
Muscati 31-05-03, 10:26 PM That's why it's a one month free test period. They'll fix all the bugs while you guys try the system out. They won't start charging people until it's bug-free.
H-Highness 01-06-03, 10:23 AM With all due respect but I find its not appealing having separate cards for calling and SMS.
Charmed 02-06-03, 02:04 AM I find it inefficient system that to refill SMS card to enable to use it different then the calls cards.
Nice to see such system implemented after a long waiting period.
True also that it DID screw the other system, but as mux have suggested it might be that they are testing it.
With every new implemented system you get troubles, bugs and problems. The point is to test it, make it bug-free and upgrade it.
Overall well done omantel.
Thug4Life 02-06-03, 10:33 PM well at least something better than nothing after long time of waiting and too many excuses....its there!
i am in UK and i get the sms from hayaak users over here to ma mobile!...thats Great!!! am thrilled for that!
Allthough the difficulity of having a different card is there for the sms system...BUt oo welll....at least now we have sms!!!
in the future we wish that the hayak coverage go wider to inculde the GCC countries at LEAST and to refill (top Up) through the net!!!! ;)
Dr Diablo 03-06-03, 04:42 PM Great to hear the news...
but today the number 1144 sent me a massage saying:
Thank you for using Hayak SMS service. your service has been deactivated.
and now when i want to send a message it ssays :
Check oprator services...
weird.. any one has any idea???? i need to get it back
well the sevice has been disactivated
:weep:
DeSerTDesTroYeR 06-06-03, 02:07 AM ooh!..disactived..now seems the system gone unstable or something.... hmm or seems they are re-programming it offline....without the load.. might be back soon i guess....with less errors and better performance.
Dr Diablo 06-06-03, 02:52 PM i called omantel and they told me that there is overload on the service so they had to cut sme lines down...:angre:
and on the first of July they will release some new SMS REFILLING CARDS which is 2, 4, 6 R.O
which i think is a bad idea 2 make 2 refilling cards... and the sms will cost 30 biaza each...
Thug4Life 06-06-03, 06:38 PM 30 Bz?? r u kidding me???!!!!
Dr Diablo 06-06-03, 09:07 PM the one who worked in the omatel told me that
and i don't think i have some problems with my ears:gap:
DeSerTDesTroYeR 08-06-03, 01:28 AM hmm
2,4,6 rials card...
30 baiza for each sms..
alrighttt.... welcome to the 7ayak world i guess..:gap:
Muscati 08-06-03, 04:23 PM What's wrong with you people. Why do you always prefer to believe rumours rather than the truth. I told you hayyak sms will be 10 baisas only. 30 baisas is bogus.
Welcome to Al Momayaza :D
I heared that each Hayak wa Bayak :p user is having 500 sms free for this month !
DeSerTDesTroYeR 03-08-03, 05:17 PM so far....7ayak... SMS..isnt official...as far as i know... but alot of hayak users...got it working... and others dont....
which means they are working on it. So just a tip ...to any 7ayak user... check if you can send... maybe you can.. :p and it should be for free..
Charmed 03-08-03, 06:20 PM OmanTel system is a failed in everything; they don’t want to spend money on something that will benefit.

i know :bang:
Dr Diablo 04-08-03, 05:16 PM ya... it seem that they don't wanna be like other advanced countries.... i wonder why
DeSerTDesTroYeR 04-08-03, 08:34 PM hmm ....omantel cant be just blamed alone... it was totally under the goverment..and now they are turning into a company which will probably improve their ... services.
As far as I know its not easy for them to simply request... financial cover...for any service they would like to improve. It takes a long time and lots of process... And for sure thats not a way to deal with such services..but thats the case so far.
