View Full Version : Quite/Sleeping Mods !!
We have some quite mods in this sabla, I'm not trying to attack anybody but just to discuss the issue and see your opinion about it. It's true that they might be busy with other things, but it's expected from a mod to be around from time to time to perform his/her duties.
Who do you think the most quite mods in the sabla ?
Below are some of the roles for mods to do which will boost sabla performance if at least the minimum followed.
1. Maintaning qulaity of sabla posts.
2. Activating new threads.
3. Replying to threads.
4. Locking threads.
5. Step between members in a hot discussion
6. Unlocking threads.
7. Encouraging members to post.
8. Checking members IP's.
9. Issue warnings.
10. Ban members.
11. Unban members.
12. Making decisions.
13. Sending PM when needed.
14. Searching for members.
15. Issue/update new rules/notices.
16. Edit threads/posts.
17. Delete threads/posts.
18. Move threads.
19. Split threads.
20. Make members happy.
21. Discuss/answer members suggestions/questions.
22. Make a poll.
23. Activate interviews.
24. Watch the entire discusion in a thread and take action if required.
25. Remind members when breaking any rule.
as i can see they MUST put icy a mod.....:rolleyes:
ice t, all the moderators are really dedicated to the place and are working extra hard to keep their sabla's as active as possible. But there are times when they get busy with their personal lives, they'r humans you know, and so would probably b less active for sometime, and they totally have the right for that! You take some breaks don't you? So hey give them a break!:)

I don't disagree with you, but if they are dedicated they should be available around, don't you agree with me. Look at Neena for example where is she, we never see her around !!

Ice tea I think most members r adult & can control their posts & behave their selves ( most of them as I know:rolleyes: ) so they don't need to be monitored by some body all the time like KJs babies:duh: .

el7ilwa mods duty is not to watch members only it's more than that.

I think most of them know their duties & they have other things in life to do instead to be on line 7/24 houers, so we don't have the right to blam them.....but if u have an opinion u have the right to send it to them.
Why don't we make a poll and elect IceTea as a mod... since he is so concerned about the wellbeing of the E.Sabla?

very true..and some of them ..the mean thing for them that how to reflect and try to convince members that they doing their duties....

Yes they know as I assume, but they need to work on it and implement it not only knowing it, coz we all know their duties. And I don't have to send them anything, we can discuss things openly in a civilized way.

The process of Admin slecting a new mod never done by a poll technique otherwise it will be much better as the whole sabla population will be involved for such action.
Second thing discussing issues related to mods, dosen't mean the member wants to take a position in the managment of E.Sabla. Simply we are looking for a better performance and constructive criticism should be welcomed by both admin and members.

I realy benifit from reading such stuff..makes us improve our way in managing this place ;)
Oooh by the way...if we get paid for what we do for u guys
mmmm how much should we get as a sallery?? Just asking??
P.s. offcourse we do this free...infact we pay for this place ;)
all mods are doing well..in my opinion. some are busy with their studies at the moment..and some have internet connection problems. so give them a break will ya. ;)

Its good to ask about this.....the quite/sleeping mods as you call them... all have their own good reasons toe away. And the moderators team is aware of most of their reasons.
Thx for inquiring, but be assured the mods will always do their best to backup each other. And try to make the moderation process of each sabla as smooth as possible. :)

But as said above, their are reasons for some mods to be away for a while. Some were mentioned by B.I .
But did you miss anyhting ice tea that made you open this thread?
Did you notice that something wasn't handled?

Interesting question Thugy...true that a salary, based on the number of "quality" posts, would be nice and very motivating for the mods. :color:

2. Activating new threads. ( as i noticed all open up threads and try their best to keep other threads active)
3. Replying to threads. ( duh..of course..and all are good mashallah)
4. Locking threads. ( if necessary then ya ..and i believe we're very easy going sometimes when it comes to locking)
5. Step between members in a hot discussion (wouldnt miss that for the world..its what we live for. :D )
6. Unlocking threads. ( why would we wanna do that? Duh..if it's locked then it'll be for a reason ..unless it was wrogfully locked)
7. Encouraging members to post. (we try to..by generating hot debates..and targeting the members with topics that might grap their attention)
8. Checking members IP's. ( only when we suspect the use of multi nicks )
9. Issue warnings. ( done when a member breaks a sabla rule )
10. Ban members. (this is a job for the admin and asst ..and is done when rule is broken )
11. Unban members. ( again ,..admin or asst admin's job)
12. Making decisions. (mod team discuss the problems and take action accordingly)
13. Sending PM when needed. ( done..when necessary)
14. Searching for members. ( what do u mean by search!!! every member is here by his own will )
15. Issue/update new rules/notices. ( that was dont recently )
16. Edit threads/posts. ( when necessary)
17. Delete threads/posts. ( threads dont get deleted..just locked, nor do posts..they just get edited)
18. Move threads. ( that's done almost every day )
19. Split threads. ( if needed then yes )
20. Make members happy. ( lol..we try our best..but we cant please everyone. ;) )
21. Discuss/answer members suggestions/questions. ( am doing that now!! )
22. Make a poll. ( this is a silly question!. but yes..done..if needed!! )
23. Activate interviews. ( xpress is doing a brilliant job there )
24. Watch the entire discusion in a thread and take action if required. ( i guess its done with at least 99% of the threads )
25. Remind members when breaking any rule. ( of course )

Ok so you are doing this for free, but the members are paying for it, yes this is the truth which nobody expected, they pay Omantel every month :D
BTW how much you are paying for this place, and who pay it ?

ya we all know those excuses, and I don't mind giving them a break but they have to report to me, you know we are paying for this place.

Two points for you DD:
1. The mods aware of their reasons, so why not to update the members on such reasons, I think they have the right to know.
2. About the backup, how flexiable it is, can a mod of X sabla perform the duties in Y sabla ?

1- Sometimes its very personal and they have the right to not inform. As all members when they arent around have their right to not tell why they were away. Its totally a personal perferences. No one can have the right to ask for anothers personal information. Unless they dont mind informing.
2- Quite flexiable. Most sabla's have more then one mod, above that we have a super mod and 2 asst. admins and an admin. They all are there for the flexiability to take place :)

Ya a'7i you keep opening stuff suggesting the moderators are not good enough, and you want to be one so much! But it ain't gonna happen is it? How can you be responsible for keeping members happy when you believe that half the members are suffering some sort of mental handicap by being female?!
You make me laugh, Tea...I like you I really do. But you might as well leave the moderation business alone, nobody would touch you with a sh*tty stick.
