I do not believe in Schools, kids require studying all the subjects, especially Music’s. It should be a choice of parents what subjects a students should study apart from the essential ones. The teachers should guide and reason with parents.

Not all schools teach all subjects ( in Oman).
Some schools stop teaching Music, Art ...etc at the 9th grade, in order to swop those lessons with Bio, Physiscs & Chemi. During the last few years of school, Art, Music..etc can be taken as an extra activity only.

There are some schools which refer to the one you were talking about earlier on. A student gets to choose a certain subject to study for and lives on it !

I know for myself in personal, a few schools who are discussing this matter, and planning on having that way.

Q is : Will it ever happen ?

A is : I dunno, depending on the Omani Gov. & the Board of Trustees of the school.

I dont agree with you gladioter .. especialy in early stages of teh child's education .. he/she should be taught everything and then decide by himself what he likes most ..some parents just think that there is no use in taking art or music or any other sorts of activity .. but they are somethigns that are essential to every society ..
I agree that concentrating on one activity might make the child much expert in it .. but also learning all the activities will make him/her know alot about everything !!

hello all,
well i remember when i was in school i realy hated the music and art lessons and i still hate them they was a waste of time we didn't gain anything from the music lesson except do re me....
i think at the first stages they should teach children art and music and if the child like it then they continue with the ones that like them and the most thing that annoy me is to give the art a percentage of the total mark..
well i say that because i don't like them but may be some of u don't agree with me..
