who said i was sarcastic?? do u have a camera??? what kind of camera??? or are u intending to buy one?
gone are the days where u need a professional photographer to produces good quality clicks. it's all about the capabilities of the camera now.
grasshopper 30-04-03, 02:21 PM Mo do you know anything about photography... If you do you would not say its all about the equipment these days...
Tell you what my friend.. if its all about the equipment lets all go to an airshow with the same bit of kit and see if we come back with the same results.. ill put money on it that we dont. FOOL!!!!
i don't need to go no where with u. i've got my camera. it's got great automatic features and i can see the results compared to my old camera.
btw how much money are u willing to put on it. if it's the usual 5 quid scouser bet forget it.
H-Highness 30-04-03, 05:20 PM Which camera have you got guys
grasshopper 30-04-03, 05:30 PM Mo i agree with you to a certain extent. Modern metering on cameras and other gadgets and gizmos has made it much easier for the Photographically challenged to get a good photo. However some photographs cannot be obtained by gadgets alone. Automatic features just simply cannot cope with certain situations. And a good percentage of what makes a good photograph is the photographers eye for a picture..
Still if you are happy with what you get then thats fine.
Name your figure MO.. then send me the cheque.

yah that's what gerald houllier said to alex ferguson at the start of the season.
over confidence!!!
grasshopper 30-04-03, 05:57 PM pretty sure this thread was about Photography Big MO.
Do i detect that a short stint in scumchester has poisened your mind and turned you into another overseas supporter of the manchester plc.
if that was the case what would be your problem in that. anyways don't like either of the reds. they both suck big time.
back to the topic

such as????
And a good percentage of what makes a good photograph is the photographers eye for a picture..
obviously!!!!!
grasshopper 30-04-03, 09:02 PM no problem atall Mo. just they way you were talking you came across as a Manu Fan..
Back to subject
Automatic functions and metering. never tolerate heavily backlight objects.. if you use your camera on auto mode and point it at a grey aircraft against a backlit (sun in front of you) sky you will come back with a silohouettte.
You need to compensate the exposure to over expose the sky and bring out the detail in the subject.
Similar story goes for a brightly lit white area.. Such as snow.
The reflection from the snow fools the meter into thinking there is more light than there actually is so left unadjusted your picture will come back underexposed and your snow grey not white.
These are just 2 examples..
Next point. if its "obvious" that it takes a good photographic eye then surely that contradicts the very statement that you made that started this conversation Mo. "its all about equipment"... Scousers fiver please sir..
hold it right there Mr. no fiver. not just yet.
why the hell would HH wanna take a pic of a grey aircraft in the middle of the day. in oman we don't go out till 5 in the evening when the sun goes down!!
but anyways u haven't tried the sony FD717. it does that for u.
snow!!! no snow in oman!!! again the FD717 does it for u.
when i said it's obvious i was referring to the actual timing of the pic and the location.
so no fiver for u.
grasshopper 30-04-03, 09:56 PM Exactly Mo. all about timing and framing of the shot. Do the auto functions do that that for you?
And Mo im disapointed in you.. you are an intelligent man. im sure you can take the leap and apply those two examples into other scenarios.. But then i guess this just proves my point.. Your sony is good to a point.. after that actual photographic knowledge is needed my dear boy.. It really depends on what HH wants to know.. If he just wants a camera that will do everything for him and take ok shots then that sort of thing is fine. If he wants to learn about photogrpahy and take it to another level then you need more than gadgets.
I think you are well aware of my point and just arguing in here helps noone.. Fiver please....lol
Seriously speaking.. H H if you do need any advice please ask. ill be happy to help and im sure Mo will be happy to disagree with me so at least you will get a balanced opinion..
Erm.......Grass??
HH is a girl. :p
grasshopper 01-05-03, 12:19 AM Lol well dont i feel the proper idiot. yesterday i kept saying xpress in a thread started by moony and now im suggesting poor HH has things in places that dont belong there. My apologies HH. please forgive me.

grasshopper 01-05-03, 01:24 PM Thanks MO. and feel free to give me a shout if you do ever need advice... Does that mean i get my fiver now lol..
