Ok you can practice in this kitchen, it's open 24 hours a day :D
icy,
I dont want theory..
H-Highness 15-04-03, 06:13 PM Icy,
Its not SHAME if a woman does not know how to cook, as long as is willing to learn. Also, its not necessary to know cooking, we're not born to be chief cooker. Thanks God, we have plenty of restaurants around ;)
selma, then enter the kitchen when your mother is sleeping and practice :)
H-H I find it a bit shame, women should know the basics of cooking and at least should be able to cook the main meals for their future husbands. I don't think the husband will be interested in eating a junk food everyday.
Icy,
I will burn everything!!

Hope this will help you H-H
Maamul Bil Tamer
Ingredients:
3 cups of all-purpose white flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup butter or margarine (at room temperature)
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
Filling:
8 ounces of pitted dates, cut up
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup lemon juice
1/2 cup chopped walnuts (if you like it with nuts)
Sift the flour with the baking powder and salt. Set aside. In a large bowl mix the butter, sugar, eggs and vanilla until light and fluffy. Gradually stir in the flour mixture until it is all well combined. Form the dough into a ball, wrap in plastic wrap or aluminum foil, and refrigerate several hours or overnight.
Divide dough into four parts and refrigerate until ready to use. Meanwhile, make the Filling: In a small saucepan combine the dates and sugar with 1/2 cup of water. Cook, stirring, over medium heat until the mixture has thickened - about 5 minutes. Remove from heat. Stir in the lemon juice and walnuts. Cool completely.
On a lightly floured surface, roll dough, one part at a time, 1/8 inch thick. With a floured 2 1/2 inch cookie cutter (or the bottom of a glass), cut out cookies. Re-roll trimmings and cut. Using a spatula, place half of the cookies on a lightly greased cookie sheet, about 2 inches apart. Spread 1 teaspoon of filling over each cookie. Cover with another cookie. With a floured fork, seal the edges firmly. Also, prick the center of the cookie once with the fork.
Bake in a 375 degree F oven for 10 to 12 minutes or until lightly browned. Remove to a wire rack, cool and enjoy!
VARIATION: use date paste ("medluke" or "mamroosa") mixed with chopped walnuts in place of the filling.
Bon Appétit!!

Reduce the amount of water and let it cook slowly. Also when you find the rice aready cooked then remove the whole remaining water and leave it on the fire for few minutes :)
oh Evilio.
Make sure that your measures are right.
for every cup of rice add one and half cup of water. so if you have 2 cups or rice then you should add 3 cups of rice.
and here you go i will give you my grannies secrets :D
first let the water gets warm add oil and sault Then let it BOIL, then add ur rice. 1/3 hour then check it. and make SURE that its in a quite tempreture.
By the way if u want it ot be great. CLOSE it TIetly. I use a piease of cloth. I wrapp it into the bowl's cover..cause they say the heat stays in and so and so.
Anyway, try this and if doesnt work then :o when you go oman see how ur mom cooks.

H-Highness 17-04-03, 01:00 PM Evilio
Is not necessary to go with measurement. All you need is boil your rice till the rice is half cooked then sieve the water from the rice. Again cover your rice and make sure no stem is coming out, your rice should be ready within 5-10 mins. Don't forget to add salt and oil.
oil is not required for the white rice.

Serve the Chicken fajitas with tortillas.
Bon Appétit!!
Hope you'll like it.. its easy and yummi
Evilio.
As a bigginer i wouldve really encourage you to stick to the rules. then after you get used to it, it will be easy to not stick to the rules cause you will have the sixth sense of it. Now if you just any amount of water you will have to check every time whether the rice is ready or not and ah it will be irritating. By the 1.5 rule the whole water will be done and i will surely know that ok enough.
And make sure to pick the good kind of rice. cause in my situation here we cant cook with the MAerican rice cause simply ITs to0o0o FAT and it gets smashed easly. so better look for an Asian mart and get urself a bad of rice from there. Best of luck.
Ayah I will appoint you as the top chief of the sabla kitchen :)
Keep up the good food!
e7em e7em..
THAAAAAAAAAAAANKS :D
Thank you Chef Ayah :)
I'll try one of those recepies and let u know ;) i'm sure it's gona be yummy coz i already have a picture of it in my mind ..yummmmmmm

heres a couple of easy dishes. .
Spicy prawns
Handfull of shelled prawns and a few king or tiger prawns
8-10 cherry tomatoes
one finely chopped medium strength chilli
clove of garlic crushed
3 0r 4 tbspoons of Olive oil
Fry the garlic and chilli in the olive oil add the tomatoes then the prawns. serve when tomatoes are just starting to burst out of their skins
serve with bread or pasta. the toms fall apart in to the oil nicely and you get a lovely spicy tomatoe covering to the prawns..
takes five mins and really tasty.
next. Crispy oyster chicken
Breast of chicken . cut into strips
one egg
plain flour
oyster sauce
noodles or rice
baby corn
mange tout
dip chicken into bowl of whisked egg then dip into the flour.
deep fry in wok.
add to cooked noodles, mange tout and baby corn and add sauce..
Another 5 mins dish. can also do this with prawns and try other sauces.. sweet and sour can be good.
Enjoy. by the way trick for really good egg rice..
wash rice under really cold water first.
cover with boiling water so just covered in pan
boil till water evaporates.
wash under cold water again
in seperate frying pan. fry egg. mix it up so pretty much scrambled
then add rice and egg to pan.. mix up and heat through..
the cold water wash gives the rice a better texture and less chance of it becoming mushy.
Icey. top tip for you. learn to cook yourself and dont depend on your poor slave.... sorry i mean wife to do it all for you.

Easy Poori Recipe
Take 1/4 kg wheat flour, add 1/2 tsp salt, 3 tsp oil and knead it well by adding water in steps so that it becomes soft.
Make this into smooth round even sized balls.Using a roller flatten the balls one by one to make it round and flat of medium thickness.
Deep fry this in oil till the poori pops fully and then remove it from the frying pan.
Tip: The dough will sink to bottom once you put it in the pan. When dough starts to rise, gently press in center with back of slotted spoon until bread puffs. Turn and cook until light brown, about 20 seconds. Transfer to paper towels uning slotted spoon. Keep warm while cooking remaining dough. Place on platter and serve immediately.
Bon Appetite!
Hope this is clear and easy :)
4-ever-young 02-05-03, 12:52 AM Thanks Ayah..this topic is full of your great recipes so thanks for your contribution here...it is very much appreciated
thanks Ayah,
I will try it tomorrow Inshaalah
Ayah,
I have tried the recipee
i dont know where i went wrong.. the puris were so thin and filled with so much oil..
and some of them were ok.. but they had too much oil
Well Puri is always full of oil even the on in tikka but if you mean FULL FULL then mm maybe you havent place it in a paper twels?
and maybe you havent empty each puri from oil just after taking it out of the pan and before placing it in the paper towel.. do it just like in french fries.
opss sorry selma I dint say that you have to fry it in a hot oil. first let heat it at high.. then when it's hot reduce it to medium so that it wont burn. But be careful so that you wont burn yourself and keep away.
What about the teste? was it fine? Hope it was great ;)
the taste was ok.. because they were full of oil.. maybe this time i will do it myself.
