Dark Project 27-03-03, 04:17 PM So much of democracy ..
Guys make up your minds do you want democracy in Arabia or not ? This is addressed to Wanderer and Shakoosh Al Kabeer and moonchild and other US or Brits in Sabla .
Shakoosh Kabir 27-03-03, 05:02 PM Of course Westerners would like to see democracy in the Arab world, and I personally welcome stations such as Al-Jazeera, Al-Arabiya and Abu Dhabi TV as they broadcast events from a different perspective - an Arab perspective. Unfortunately, freedom of speech and expression and balanced reporting are not a traditional feature of the Arab media and most recent broadcasts appear designed simply to inflame passions and attract an ever greater ghoulish audience. There is serious doubt that all the footage being broadcast is genuine.
ps Al-Jazeera has NOT been banned from the USA. That is just another example of scaremongering.
Dark Project 27-03-03, 05:09 PM What do you call Bush's speech's ? Is in it as you stated inflame passions and attract an ever greater ghoulish audience.
And you have many .... and coming from a President ..

We don't need your democrasy, thanks!
We have a better system (that we yet need to effectively use): Islam
Al-Jazeera coverage is designed to inflame passions??!!!
What about CNN, FOX News, etc?
Very true, very unbiased, very logical?

apparently the site was the target of angry hackers within hours of going live on Monday... more likely patriotic teenagers than government censors!!
as the above articles point out, it was originally hosted by an American company, which has since changed it's mind, possibly because they fear being boycotted and run out of business by their other clients.
when I tried to get to the site, it threw up the message "This Page has Been Taken Over By Saimoon Bhuiyan "
My opinion after doing a little research is that the govt probably had nothing to do with it, it either went down due to DOS attacks or the company pulled the plug once they saw the content (which is the right of a private company to choose their clients).
Don Khaled 28-03-03, 12:35 AM Bla Bla Bla. That's what some are good at. They don't look for evidence, and start spreading rumours.
Al jazeera is not banned, it was actually attacked by hackers OR under pressure from viewing the page. And the american webhosting company shut it down for that reason (mainly).
But today a UK Al-jazeera representative said that the web site hadn't been attacked. Instead, he agreed that it was pressure of page views that were causing the problems.

I still watch aljazeera on TV though because I have a dish, and I live in USA.

There is nothing incompatible between democracy and Islam in theory. Just in practice.
In the West, the tendency over the last 500 years has been to separate Church and State. In the Islamic world the opposite is true.
Sorry Shakoosh Kabir, I dint really get your point.. Could you please explain it to us more?

I believe that Islam is a complete way of life, not just a religion
There might be some similarities of course between the two systems.. but there are essential differences.
Islam focuses on obeying and submitting to Allah.. Which is not the case with democracy.

And so far it has worked wonders. Unemployment rate is incredibly high, birthrate is incredibly high, poverty is incredibly high, and you are about 15 centuries behind the times.
tried it several times.. it says the website has been hacked
In the name of Allah, the most Gracious, the most Merciful

Old glory, if you are talking about the current systems we use in Muslim nations, you are right to some extent, apart from your very obvious exaggerations. But what you are talking about is not true Islamic rulling.
Muslims now are not following Islamic way of life. Muslims were the most advanced in science and civilization when they were following Islamic rullings. Most of Europe was in the "Dark ages," and America wasn't discovered.
The problems you see in our communities now is due to the deviation from the true Islamic rulling. Allah has promised us honor in this life if we truely follow his book in every single aspect of our lives. If we don't, then just being 'Muslims' won't be sufficient for us to get Allah's support. [True faith + hard work] is the success formula in Islam.
Talking about Democracy and capitalism, ethical problems are the most visible problems. High divorce rates, high abortion rates, relatively weak family ties, high crime rates, to name a few.
The main difference between Islamic system and Democratic system is that Islamic system rullings come from Allah, the complete almighty. Democratic rullings come from limited human beings. No matter how effecient a system is, it'd still be limited by human beings unless true and strong faith is accompanying it.
Why don't American people want to see the truth?
Why they hacked ALjazeera web site when it had shown them what is really happening in Iraq?
I did not expect American people to be so narrow minded people.
Come hell or high water, the truth will be shown to the whole world by Allah.
DeSerTDesTroYeR 30-03-03, 04:09 PM very well said Ayah...
and for sure.....Islam is the best system muslims can use to live their life...daily .and in every moment of their lifes...
from a ban to a hack..... either way has the same idea...though done by different groups.
but the idea that they hacked..means that al - jazeera is really quite displaying things they rather not see...lets say a minority....as most of the americans would rather see the truth...
naturally 31-03-03, 06:02 AM Whether Banned, Hacked, or down for technical reasons. Why can't that be related to the daily 'incidental' bombs that are falling on Iraqi TV and Ministry of media. There is at least one 'incidental' incident per day that proves that the Americans are fighting a media war trying to suppress teh truth of what is happening from thier people and all others worldwide. The Iraqi government on the other hand allowed people full access to their country, except CNN, so that they report the truth.
Desert_Sloath 31-03-03, 10:34 AM So simply without lies the British and Americans canno prevail
