4 the game console addicts how many of you would say PS2 or XBOX is better?
I would go for ps2 they have much better games and variety the controlrs are easy even on the same games which are out on both XBOX and PS2. But i have to give to the XBOX on the graphics. Watch out PS3 will be launched within two years

well, PS2 will be better in the variaty of games since its been in the market for so long, longer than XBOX...

but i have to disagree with you that the controls on XBOX is much better and easier to use... plus has a better feel than the PS2...

in addition, the XBOX could be conected to the net, where more downloads and more network gammings...

the best part about the XBOX is that it comes with internal memory, so all games could store progress on the console... i was able to download a whole music CD and listen to it while playing some games... how nice is that...

this is the best part ever, the DVD player has a remote control... so not only is your XBOX a game console, but its a music and DVD player... just like the PS2 but with a better eadge ;)

sorry chouch :kewl:

There is no way that the XBOX could stand a match against the PS2.

First of all, as everybody knows the PS2 is a japanese product while the XBOX is american. What makes a console worth buying is the games. The problem of the XBOX is that it doesn't have a lot of support from the Japanese developers who are the people that make the good games. XBOX got the support of Konami, but this is still not enough for it to succeed. The thing about the PS2 is that it has the biggest game library ever and already has enough respected game series that could on their own make the sytem stay alive.

but i have to disagree with you that the controls on XBOX is much better and easier to use... plus has a better feel than the PS2...

Design wise, the XBOX has the worst console body EVER. It is in fact a BOX. SO HUGE and SO DULL. Even the joy stick. It is one of the worst joysticks ever made. Not only size wise. But the actual position of the analoge vertically about the digital direction input is very annoying. Microsoft itself was very aware of this problem later on and they had to make a smaller version of the joystick for the Japanese launch after all the negative feed back they got from the gamers.

On the other hand, the PS2 joystick is the best joystick after the DreamCast's VMU joystick. The design is smoothly made to fit the hand with a full analogue enabled buttons (The joystick detects how deep you press the button). It was obvious how the PSone analgue joystick design was very success, and luckily Sony didn't mess up with the good thing.

in addition, the XBOX could be conected to the net, where more downloads and more network gammings...

:duh: Who said that the PS2 can't be connected to the internet?

There are all differnt types of PS2 modems. The PS2 still doesn't have as many online games as the XBOX, but all the XBOX online games are duplicates of PC online games that don't really introduce anything new to console gaming. If you want to play these online games you can easily go use your computer instead.

The most famous PS2 online game is Final Fantasy XI: Online Another World. The game was released in Japan last year and the initial network tests are currently being done in the US to prepare for the US release. Another PS2 massive online game would be Resident Evil Onilne.

the best part about the XBOX is that it comes with internal memory, so all games could store progress on the console... i was able to download a whole music CD and listen to it while playing some games... how nice is that...

Again, even the PS2 has a hard drive that can enable it to save files and games on it. The XBOX's only advantage is that it has everything built-in. But this in reply made the console so boxy and ugly, while the PS2 has maitained a futuristic sleek design.

this is the best part ever, the DVD player has a remote control... so not only is your XBOX a game console, but its a music and DVD player... just like the PS2 but with a better eadge ;)

KAMA! PLEASE GO GET SOME KNOWLEDGE!!! The PS2 was the first console that had a remote for its DVD player!!!!

The XBOX is not only the worst console in terms of games, it is the least successful concoles from all the other two in terms of sales. :D

The PS2 is the best console currently in the market, other features that people don't usually know about is that the PS has also an i-Link, a Firewire Port, extention bay, and even a linux kit for people who are really intrested.

At the end, what makes a console successful is the games, and the XBOX doesn't have any exculsive games that makes it worth buying. Microsoft thought that it would own the gaming industry, but it just proved that it truely sucks. On the other hand, the PS2 has all the games that people would want to play, Winning Eleven series, Tekken Series, Grand Turismo, Final Fantasy, and EVERYTHING. The ONLY worthy exclusive that the XBOX has is the Dino Crisises game from Capcom, but any, they still suck, sorry Kama.

XBOX has been introduced on Nov. 8, 2001, which means that it has been on the market for just over a year... very new... plus its the first console made by Microsoft... while PS has been in the market long before, and has a prevoius console, PS1 and now has a better one PS2... therefore ofcourse the PS2 will have many games to play in... both from the PS1 and PS2... they are about 5000 games for XBOX... and still more to come...

the XBOX has an intel 733 MHz processor, which is the most powerful CPU of any console EVER...

I dont know what ppl hate about the controler... i prefer the big controler... it melts into my hands... while i really hated the PS2 controller with small buttons and the hand stays in an occuard way... plus its confusing...

i have friends who played James Bond Night Fire on both the XBOX and the PS2, they all prefered the XBOX... plus i have both the big controler and the small one which was relesed later... i still prefer the big one...

the wiers for the controler come in two parts, so if you pull the controler to its limit, or step on the wires it detach itself from the console, otherwise the console might fall and cost you even more $$$...

okay, you say that the PS2 can be on the net, and can have a harddrive... but who would go and buy each one with its own cost sepratlly? this is all standered with the XBOX which makes it internet ready and a big hard drive 10GB!!! so you dont even have to buy costly memory cards... a big advantage my dear friend Blue Chi...

the system reads from DVD9s which contain almost twice as much data as a Playstation 2 disk, and about 4 times as much data as a Gamecube disk. this makes it the best in graphic capabilities of all consoles. lets go to audio, it has 256 audio channels and support for surround sound... good graphics and good sound... The system is also capable of some pretty nice effects, such as pixel shading and bump mapping... sorry Blue Chi...

since the system is excelent... the only problem, which is the major problem of any gaming console is the games available... XBOX has a lot of catching up to do... but lets face it... its a microsoft project... its a bottom less well... money is no problem...

Some of the games i recommed for XBOX...

Project Gothem... Car game... you would always need a car game for your console... Project Gothem is an amazing car race game with cars like Mini Cooper S, Porche (Boxter, GT, GT3), Ferrari (Spider, 355, Moranelo, F50), Viper, Corvet, Delfino, Lotus, Sky Line... and many more... a new concept is introduced in this game which is Kudos... the more you slide with the car the more Kudos you get... the person with the most Kudos wins... with multi player...i rate this game 4.5/5

Halo... a first hand shooting game... also supports multi player... it is voted the best game for XBOX... it deserves it...

There is a difference between what the console can actually perform in theory and what the games themselves would look in reality. ;) Sounds wierd, but what I am saying is that not all games on the XBOX actually use the power of the XBOX. The majority of the games on the XBOX don't look as good as the games on the PS2, this is not because the PS2 is more powerful, but because the developers that make games for the PS2 work more on the graphics. This could be easily viewed on games like Final Fantasy X on the PS2 and how it is features a facial expression graphical system that non of the XBOX games seem to manage. Why I mention this is that to tell you that the actual games don't have to follow the actualy trend of the console power. This reminds me of how the CD-X console that was released in the mid 90s by SEGA failed because it introduced the CD technology at a time where the market was not ready yet for such technology. Somethings might just be TOO MUCH.

I dont know what ppl hate about the controler... i prefer the big controler... it melts into my hands... while i really hated the PS2 controller with small buttons and the hand stays in an occuard way... plus its confusing...

This is a very personal view, the global dislike of the XBOX controller and the over all design is so obvious. PLUS, the technology of the PS2 controller is in the analogue nature of all the buttons which is not present in the XBOX joysticks.

the wiers for the controler come in two parts, so if you pull the controler to its limit, or step on the wires it detach itself from the console, otherwise the console might fall and cost you even more $$$...

Kama, this is one of the lamest arguements I've ever heard, go buy wireless joysticks it might even be better for you! :D LOL, what about the rear connections to the TV? don't they have two part joints in case you step on the cable to the TV??

okay, you say that the PS2 can be on the net, and can have a harddrive... but who would go and buy each one with its own cost sepratlly? this is all standered with the XBOX which makes it internet ready and a big hard drive 10GB!!!

I have to admit that this is a true advantage that the XBOX has. You don't have to go through all the mess of going and buying all these equipment because they are all built-in in the console. I can still see some draw backs to this as it limits the console to 10GB of internal memory, while the PS2 HDD has a 40 GB of space and there are always chances of increasing that as it is an external accessory that can always be updated.

Anyway, talking of Built-ins and stuff, the PS2 comes with a built-in DVD player, while the XBOX does not. :D

the system reads from DVD9s which contain almost twice as much data as a Playstation 2 disk, and about 4 times as much data as a Gamecube disk. this makes it the best in graphic capabilities of all consoles. lets go to audio, it has 256 audio channels and support for surround sound... good graphics and good sound... Kama, it is not the XBOX that needs lots of catching up to do, it is you who needs lots of catching up to do with the gaming industry. It is not the console power that makes the console powerful or not, and just as I told you before, in the actual games that we finally get in our market you don't see all the power that the console has used in the game itself. If you remember what you have said, the XBOX is that last console released on the 3 current major ones, and for this reason, it is the most advanced technically.

If you think that console power is what makes games good, you should just stick to PC games, they have the best graphics, but still do not match the fun of console games.

PLUS, it is not the graphics that make a good game worth playing, at the end, it is the fun of the game and the amount of enjoyment that it provides is what makes it worth playing.

The XBOX problem is not the fact that it is a new console, the PSone was the first console by Sony (whom wasn't related to gaming industry at all, while Microsoft has its PC gaming history). The XBOX lack of games is not in the QUANTITY, it is in the QUALITY.

Quality games come from Japan, and the being of Mircrost as an American company based in America made didn't really make the XBOX is a favoured console by the Japanese developers. This is why there aren't any games worth playing on the XBOX. Looking at the developers for the XBOX: SEGA, KONAMI, and CAPCOM are the only respected developers who are working for it, and SEGA is in fact the only one making exclusives for the XBOX, while KONAMI is only making remakes, and Capcom is making only one exclusive which is Dino Crises X. All the other games on the XBOX are duplicates of PC games *yawns* HALO, THE SIMS, etc. Which are not really what a game CONSOLE is supposed to have. Not many people notice it, but there is a great difference between games that are made for consoles and games made for PCs; i.e. there is a great difference between looking at the screen from 30cm and looking at from 3 meters. Anyway, the lack of Japanese developers is the main drawback of the XBOX, the greatest developers like Squaresoft, Atlus, Enix, Hudson, they don't support the XBOX at all, which is quiet sad because this has lead to the non-existance of lots of game genres within the XBOX game library such (RPGs, SRPGs, etc.) The thing is that non of these developers is willing to make any games for the XBOX, so it is obvious that the XBOX situation is not going to improve alot.
Microsoft has lots of money and that is how it got some developers like Konami and Sega to work for it, but this doesn't mean that it would be able to dominate the market because its games just suck.

I don't have to remind you that the PS2 has Grand Turismo series which is considered by all the gaming media as the best car racing game in HISTORY. :P
Project Gotham is a good game, but GT is just better.

Halo... a first hand shooting game... also supports multi player... it is voted the best game for XBOX... it deserves it...

Another PC duplicate?

One other thing that I noticed about the PS2, it is full of innovation, the XBOX doesn't have a single feature that makes it stand among the crowd. Look at the PS2 games, they are full of innovation; Namco gun games, Konami dancing games, Squaresoft RPGs. Most of these games have been influential to the whole gaming industry. Unlike the XBOX that is bragging all the time about games which are just imports of PC games.

Pathetic.

I know a bit about PS2 and XBox, coz I have non of them, but I bring a PS2 everyonce in a while, and I have seen the Xbox here and there...

In my Opinion PS2 is better, but not much, its just about the games, there is something better in them than Xbox, I donno what... Maybe its much more fun, and remember, PS2 Sold much more than Xbox!

plz, dont genralize, they are only a few games that are the same as PC games, but whats the harm in having it on a console too? HALO is just the same as James Bond... plus why does the PS2 have GTA which is also available on PC...

Blue, try playing James Bond Nightfire on both the XBOX and PS2... you would enjoy it more on the XBOX... all from the grafixs, controler and game load...

i still say that XBOX is better, just needs time to get more companies to develop games for it... all in all its an excelent console and i wish it a bright futuer...

as for the PS2, lets wait for PS3 to come out...

This is what I'm telling you, you NEED the remote to be able to play DVDs, but on the PS2, you don't need anything at all to play DVDs, get it?

Kama, where do you get your informations from? The XBOX controller was disliked by the majority, and Microsoft feared the failure of the XBOX launch in Japan because of that so they made a different compact joystick for the Japanese launch trying to fix their mistake. Furthermore, read this:

Read my post again,

I talked about some good games on the XBOX, and the other good games on the XBOX are PC duplicates. All consoles have PC imported games, but the XBOX always brags with its PC duplicates which is very cheap, well Microsoft is totally related to PCs, so that is in fact not very surprising.

Blue, try playing James Bond Nightfire on both the XBOX and PS2... you would enjoy it more on the XBOX... all from the grafixs, controler and game load...
:D :D I don't play B-Class games. :D :D I would love suggesting a good game to compare on the XBOX and PS2, but unfortunatly, the XBOX doesn't have any games worth playing until now. :D

needs time to get more companies to develop games

The XBOX obviously needs more developers, a more compact console design, a better joystick, better marketing strategies, an expansion in its gaming genres, better..., more..., more... , more.., etc...
I think that we all need a better XBOX in fact. :D
