hmmm I got this from the dictionary but I dont know how to illustrate it more so here it is..

off·set, off·set·ting, off·sets (ôfst, f-, ôf-st, f-)

To counterbalance, counteract, or compensate for: fringe benefits designed to offset low salaries.

May be this meaning :
