i want to know how much is the laptop here in australia......... i'm thinking of buying one as i need it for my researches ....... so do anybody have any idea about it ......... and whats the best one i want it for scintific researches ............
thenx.........:D
Hmmmm
I think if u bought it from oman or UAE that would've been better for u maha.
A friend of mine bought a laptop recently, it's a good new one.
Costed him around 4500 Australian dollars.
It was a gateway brand.
Another one bought a toshiba laptop which costed nearly 5000 australian dollars!
A lot cheaper in oman and UAE.
Ur asking for the best???
My recommendation would be to go for either a toshiba or a compaq....... from my experience with these two... they worked just as i wanted them to be...
But wait.... macintosh might be better for u... any expert in iMAC?

Well i would be one of those friends - if you do get a compaq make sure that it works while you are there (in shop)... but i'll go with Kamakazy on the DELL thing...
My compaq wasn't too bad, my problem would appear to be my network card only... but well it's a lot of money (i bought software too... too expensive - always say you are a student if you are one when you are buying computers and software!!!!) and it's sooo much cheaper in Oman if you can buy one there, do that if poss.
Well i don't want to say that DELL is better than compaq c'os i have it :D but well if Kamakazy says it's better it's gotta be, don't it Kamakazy?
hmmm interesting..... i had no problems in my compaq!!!
Can u explain more about the problems thay had kam?

Compaq is nothing compared to Dell's laptops. Dell was rated B+ (1st place) compared to Compaq D- (somewhere at the last places) at PCMAG.com .
So would you go for a B+ laptop or D-?
Personally, go for Dell and you won't really regret it.

one was an IRQ problems i guess and the computer had memory dumps every 5 mins...
the other laptop had some problem with its network card, you can ask Jem for more info...
Don, can post more info about the rating plz?
Kam the prob was with the mother board and the service center had to wait for some 2 months for a new one to come in from overseas. I'm boycotting compaq forever! :fire:
the computers in my uni r all dell and they got great speed ........ they r very good .........:) ..........;)
