Steak with black peper/cream sauce

Ingredients:

Beef steaks
1/2 spoon garlic (paste)
black paper and salt (as desiered)
olive oil (4 table spoons)
1 packet of cream

Procedures:

1. fry the meat in the olive oil with little garlic .. and while frying put black peper and salt to the meat..
(you have to press it hard so that it'll cook evenly)

2- in a bowl mix the cream with 2 table spoons of water and little black paper and salt..

3- when you finish frying add cream mixture to the pan and cook it with the meat and stir it well.. and test it if there is something missing (like salt of something adding it this time.. then serve it ;)

Hope you'll like it as I do :)

Here’s a man reciepe

I prefer to serve it with tea, I am sorry I forgot it’s name. I am sure the name will not make a difference to your stomach!.

Material:
1About 1/4 Kg butter.
2.1 tea spoon (tsp) cinammon (kirfa).
3.About 200 grams cream chesse.
4.About 2.5 cups of flour
5. 5 tsp sugar
6. 1/2 cup ground nuts.
7. 3/4 cup raisins (zabeeb)
8.jam

- Beat the butter and cream cheese for about 30 seconds. Add the flower gradually while you are stirring.

-Put this dough in the fridge (not the freezer) for about 2 hrs.

-Mix the sugar and cinnamon in a cup.

-Prepare the oven at 175 C

-On a well-floured surface using a floured rolling pin, roll the pieces of dough into rectangular stripes (about 7-10 cm wide)

-Spread the top of the dough with a little of the jam, Sprinkle some raisins, cinnamon sugar and ground nuts evenly over the jam.

-Fold the stripe toward the length.i.e you will end up with a thin long roll

-Bake these rolls for 25-30 minutes.

-After you have taken the roll out, cut them in small pieces to be served.

-I usually like to use strawberry jam. I also recommend while you are rolling, keep the rest of the dough in the fridge.

KABSA // MAKBOOS:

Ok, here is my recipe for an un-official Kabsaa.. as usual, I dont have exact ingredients.. just use your cooking instincts to get the flavor right..

Ingredients:

- Rice
- spices (eg, Chilli powder, Omani bzar, yellow powder, salt, peper, etc)
-tomato paste.
-Chicken cut into pieces..
-vegetable mixture (according to your preference)
-Onion
-Grated Garlic/ ginger..
-dried lemon.. (just the black stuff, you should remove the outer skin)

Method:

- First step is to boil the chicken with black pepper, salt, chilli powder and Omani seasoning.. (when chicken is well cooked do not throw away the broth)

- in a deep pan, frie chopped onions and garlic until crisp brown.. then add your choice of vegetables and spices... and stir for few minutes..

-Add the chicken to the deep pan.. make sure it gets the spicy flavor..

-Now in a container, measure 1 and a half cups of the chicken broth(soup) for every cup of rice you are going to cook.. put it in a container and add tomato paste to it and stir well..

-Add this chicken soup + tomato paste to your deep pan where you are cooking the veggies, then add the rice... and dont forget to add the dried lemon..

-allow to cook on low fire.. and make sure the pan is closed.. dont open until ready...

- when rice is cooked.. your meal is ready to enter your stomach

If I wasnt clear in any of the points above please feel free to ask..

These recepies sound great! Well, I'm not good at cooking like you all, I'm only good at making sweets, lol, but I never eat what I cook, maybe because I spend too much time preparing them that I feel full just by smelling it!:duh: :D
Anyway, I'll try and look up something good..:)

Such a great thread :d
ok let me share with you my recipe:
MAndazi (Its kind of a bread.for those who doesnt know what it is..and you can eat it with Tea,Beans, curry, honey, chocolate souce! i mean anything jam butter ..LOL

Well am bad as well in messurment so as bimmi said use your instenct!
This is for like mm 4-5 people..

1- 4 full cups of flour.
2- 2 cups of sugr.
3- 1 spoon of khameera i dont know what its called but i think -instant or saf-instant.
4- a spoon of milk pouder.
5- and a rush of sault.

You put them all together then gradually back it with adding some water.. till it sticks to gether and for approximation a cup of water will satisfy the work.. thats it.. Keep it for about 2 hours -yitkhamar- then cut pices from it in a round shap small ones.then seclude it with the stick and cut them into 4 quarters.. then drown it in a deep hot oil... it should be a deep sufriya..

And thats it...I hope that my way of explaining was easy :D
And bimmi i guess after tomorrow will try yours :D

Tiramisu is The most heavenly Italian dessert, which means 'Pick me up' in Italian.

Do try to make it, its amazing and easy to make. Enjoy!

2 packages of Lady finger cookies
2 1/2 cups of strong coffee 'Nescafe'
5 eggs separated
1 3/4 cup of sugar
1 1/2 tsp. of Vanilla
250g of Mascarpone cheese
1/2 cup of sweet cocoa powder
3/4 cup of whipped cream

Mix coffee with warm water in a large bowl. In batches, dip the cookies in the coffee mixture.
You want them to be moist on the outside but still crunchy inside.

Beat the egg yolks with 1/2 of the sugar until the mixture is thick enough to form a long ribbon when you lift
the beaters. Add the Mascarpone and beat for 2 - 3 more minutes. Set aside.
Beat the egg whites, adding the remaining sugar a bit at a time, until they form stiff peaks about four minutes.
Gently fold the egg whites in the Mascarpone mixture, until the mixture is all the same color. Add the vanilla assence
into the mixture and beat for 2 minutes. This will get rid of the eggy smell from the mixture.

In a glass baking dish, assemble the dessert. Layer the bottom of the pan with the soaked cookies. Top with a layer of
the mixture. Repeat by placing cookies on top of mixture, then the mixture again. Add Whipped cream on top of the
mascarpone final layer. Then using a flour sifter cover the top of the whipped cream, sprinkle a thin layer of
sweet cocoa powder. Place the Tiramisu in the refrigerator and let it rest for at least 5 hours, better if overnight.

Serve it with pride!

Note: You will notice there may be enough of the mixture leftover to make a smaller Tiramisu.
This usually never happens to me, because I always keep tasting to make sure that there is enough sugar
and chocolate. By the time I am done, there is just enough for only one pan. Don't laugh. It will happen to you too!

:D

Maya.. I LOVE Tiramisu... my recipe is a bit different though...

Najah.. I made mandazi with my friend two days ago.. it was soo good.. but we used baking powder instead of yeast.. its eaiser and you dont need to wait two hours for the dough to rise... ( we also added cardamon "heil" and za3fran to add some flavor)

Ok, here is my Mali7 recipe for people abroad :gap: I had it for dinner yesterday:

- Cut lots of onions into slices.. add a LOT of salt.. put loads of salt.. and keep it aside for at least 2 hours.. (in Oman, it would usualy be kept under the sun)..

- After two hours, wash the salted onions thoroughly.. add canned Tuna , lots of lemon and a little salt... you can add cinnamon powder if you want to give it some taste, but it aint necessary..

-You can have it with white rice..

mmm.. I love it.. it wont taste as good as the one you have in Oman.. but something better than nothing :p

:p hmmmmm....

Now this is one of my favourite recipes

Ingrediants:
- Boursin Cheese
- milk
- Paste bows
- baby tomatoes
- brocolli
- a little bacon (beef - or whatever your preference)

If you want bacon - cut it up into little pieces and cook first.

Put on the paste bows - follow the package instructions.
While the pasta is cooking, melt the boursin over a VERY small heat and add only a little milk if you want a thick sauce - if you want a thinner one add more milk.
While the boursin is melting, cut up the tomatoes, and put the brocolli in the microwave (put the brocolli in a microwavable dish with a lid, put in salt and a couple of tea spoons of water - cook for 2 minutes & voila you have cooked brocolli)

When the pasta is ready and the boursin is melted... put the sauce and pasta together and then put your veggies is and if you want a bit of meat or extra flavour go for the bacon bits.

:D

There you go.... i will try to find more - but all of my cooking books and things are back home in Oman.

And i would just like to say - Food in Oman is the BEST!!

Bimzoori

BIG THANX to Ayah for the Steak Recipe.. it was more than Fantastic.. I had such a great meal.. alhamdullilah..

inshallah, I think next time I'll add mushrooms to the cream.. and i'll probably add chopped onions to the steak when its half-way cooked..

just a note: make sure you get thin slices of steak.. mine was quite thick so it took a while for the meat to cook.. (you can check if the meat is cooked or not by poking it with a knife and see whether or not blood comes out.. )

waiting for more recipes..

What you do
