View Full Version : Gender vs. Sex E-Creativity 11-03-03, 12:54 AM What is the difference between gender and sex Thanks :) Wanderer 11-03-03, 02:11 AM I prefer sex. Najah 11-03-03, 05:51 AM Gender: socially and culturaly constricted aspect of diffrencess between women and men. *two genders: masculare and femenine. Sex: What we physically are (Byologicaly determind) *two sexes: Male - Female... P.S. Hope that i answered it correctly! Arabian Princess 11-03-03, 12:17 PM YUP najah is right!! couldnt explain it better! FaHaD 11-03-03, 04:34 PM well najah, thought they are the other way around.. don't know really but i prefer using teh word sex instead of gender E-Creativity 14-03-03, 03:20 PM I'm no sure I got it: Gender is bad because it asserts the unfair social differences between men and women. wjile sex is a discrptive word about the biological traits? is that what it means? Thanks :) Najah 28-03-03, 08:52 PM sooory E-creativity.. Yess that what it means E. And Fahad no my answer is right, i double checked it. Dr N 28-03-03, 09:38 PM I think that what najah has said is true..... Though to me, it doesn't make much difference what word I use, so why do some poeple think that the word gender would show a difference between men and women? There IS a difference, nothing bad about that! Arabian Princess 29-03-03, 10:02 AM Gender is not bad .. its the word used when the social aspects of the diffrences between men and women occur. DeSerTDesTroYeR 30-03-03, 12:41 AM hmm...i kinda see them as representing the same meaning....as different categories..of human being and thats men & women... I would presonally use the word gender....:) Seniora 30-03-03, 04:37 PM the two words are closely related, where and when u use them, really is a matter of preference i think. i would prefer to use gender when i am relating to clothes, grammer, or animals. and would like to use "sex" when it comes relating things that concern human beings, as in their behaviour and rights, E-Creativity 01-04-03, 09:52 PM Ok, now I got it : Gender is a word that is used by those who think that there is no difference between men and women, the only difference are social stereotypes. Am I right ? Thanks :) |
