you know sometimes i feel that there r ppl who r gifted in writing .. and i got lots of friends who write very nice poems and stories.. so i kept thinking how do these ppl think about the words and how do they organize there mind and creat such a great words.. that we simply use them most of the time ..
then its not the matter or the vocabulary it’s the matter how to organize ur words and how to keep it in a nice way ..
I’m sure some of u who r reading this now got that gift and I can call them great writers ,,
My question is : can u give us the simple steps or tips atleast to know how to express our feelings in a nice way :)??

Well, Lemmi tell u what I think...
Some people I know are like what you said, u know... Gifted in writting and stuff... First of all, people are not only gifted in writting, everyone has his thing...
U can't be a good writer unless u were born with it...
4 Example, I don't have a gift of expressing my self, but what I have is reading in a very quickly, u might find reading quickly stupid, but it is infact very useful...
Trust me, every one has a gift... the hard thing is to find it... an sometimes u don't realize that u have it!

Well miss naughty, writing is a gift. Not everyone is good at expressing their feelings through writing. We all have different ways of expressing our feelings. I guess it comes from within you, and you're right when you say that organization is important. Maybe one of the members who write can explain to us how they do it. Thug maybe you can tell us something?!:)

Steps.....you just need to be in the mood...:) ...doesnt matter good or bad....happy or sad....but along with alll these moods...u need to have the "wanna writing something mood" :D

its like...thoughts jumping all over your head...screaming crying to be expressed into something..or someone....most likely if you wanna write..then its something..:)

simply.....dont force yourself..you feel the words..flowing..usually you dont need to thnk about what you write...like..you yourself..wont know what r you writing about....maybe after few lines or a pragraph or 2..you might get a clue..:p ....even sometimes..you will be curious...how your writing will end..:gap:

soo....the keywords...are...

- wanna write mood
- flying thoughts all around
- letting your hand go freely....

hmm...so far this is what i can think of....lets see what others think...

There are four key words for a successful writing:

THINK

PLAN

WRITE

REVISE


Lets see the details of each:

THINK

- How much time have you got to get your writing done?!

- What are you asked to write about?! (topic)

-Are there enough sources in your library? or perhaps in the internet?!

-WHat is the purpouse of the piece you're writing?!! who are your readers??!


PLAN

-Collect your sources.. there must be a variety.. and mae suer they are accpetable..

- make a simple outline of your paper (assignement), with clear titles and sub-titles..

- make sure the order of your titles and the outline is logical..

- Decide how to introduce and conclude your writing (these must be the most effective parts of the whole paper).. the introduction has to be very attractive, and must give teh reader a basic idea of what you will be talking about.. then you have the bulk of the paper.. here you should be able to CONVINCE the readers of what you have mentioned in your introduction.. the conclusion has to be SHORT and must summarize the whole argument..


WRITE

- I uusally type my papers straight away, some people prefer to write on paper first then do the typing.. see whats most comfortable, but the first choice is obviously easier and would save you lots of time :cool:

- You already have your outline, so what you do is collect evidence from your various sources and put tehm under each subtitle (make sure you paraphrase well so you wouldnt be accused of stealing people's ideas)

-Make sure your headings are clear and straight to the point .and also make sure that whats written under each heading matches with the heading.. again the order must be LOGICAL..

- You might want to add graphs, tables, illustrations, etc to make your writing more effective..

-Make sure you have your references mentioend..



REVISE

-After you've done your first f=draft.. go through the paper and see if its coherent, logical, makes sense,, and conveys your points to the reader..

- double check theer arent spelling mistakes.. ir grammatical mistakes..

- is your argument convincing?!! is the paper well organized?? is the ending effective?!

- you might want to give your paper to a friend to see if tehy get your point.. or you can leave it aside for some time then come back to it, and see if it still makes sense.. if not......... :cool: you'll have to make some changes...





OK, the points I have mentioned above sound a bit theoretical.. and it may be easier said than done.. but in general, you need to read more inorder to enhance your writing abilities.. the more you read the wider vocabulary you learn.. and you also learn the different styles of writing...

u know DD i remember once when i was mad i took a paper and pen and started writing and writing and when i finished i felt little bit comfortable and then i teared the papers and went to sleep ..
one more thing i think being in the bathroom (soorry Allah ya3zkum) is a good sort of thinking .. and being there so long u can write a book ..heheheh

hmm...well...i do have writing attempts....:D but wont consider myself a writer yet...need alot to learn...... i just say ..go with what u'r mood..tells ....

like the example you mentioned...next time try to keep it....soo you can read it afterwards...and see how it was...

aha ok.... I didnt notice you had mentioned a specific type of writing..


In general, you obviously need to have feelings and inclinations towards something inorder to be able to write and translate those feelings onto paper.. I cant imagine myself writing without having some sort of emotions and interest towards what I'm writing about.. eg, I can write pages and pages about the love of my country when I'm away from it..and I can slo write pages and pages about my love of my parents, etc, etc.. but I wouldnt be as productive if I were to write something that doesnt have any emotial effect on me.. or f there is no reason pushing me to write...

I think being able to write nicely and smoothly is a talent that not everyone has..some peoplehave difficulties expressing whats on thier minds in paper... but you can imporove your abilities by enhancing your readings.. try to read more literature and poetry.. and our Arabic language is very rich in them..

reading will widen your vocabulary and will introduce you to different styles of writings...

You should also have a good grasp of the language.. otherwise you're writings will be trash!!

adding to what the people above said (mood, flow of writing, thoughts and emotions) I would add you should have imagination.

When you write something .. you should be able to imagine it .. I also write short stories .. and I see it as a movie infront of me first and then I explain the movie .. if I couldnt imagine something .. it means it cant be real and I wont know how to express it !

well.. thats right Araby.. i do like to imagen things but its also difficult to express that in ur paper i dont mean by its hard to do but i tried doing it once and i wrote lots of papers and i felt great with that but someone told me if i kept saying lots of details ppl will get bored reading what i wrote its nice but it have to be in brife.. what do u think??

yeap i agre writing is a gift but same time a skill which can be learned.

Yup, Eleven, and you know how I knew that I can read fast, it was all in a simple step... PlayingGames, When I read stuff in the game while I am having fun, I don't realize that I'm not just playing and having fun, but I'm training for a new skill...

BTW, I used to suck in reading 8 years ago! :D

i don't know what happens to me... i think it is matter of being free to write and know what to write and that comes when i have the feelings with me...
and usually my friend Thug understand what i write because he is the only one in sabla who is with me most of teh time...
