salami to all of you,,
Bright sky, huge mountains, clean water passing through fascinating farms with friendly people smiling at each other....that is every day scenery in the small village of Tanuf which is part of Nizwa. Sarah was 10 years old girl who enjoyed being part of this untouched settlement. Her dad was a hard working farmer while her mother was dedicating most of her time to look after Sarah and her other two younger brothers Ali 4 years old and Jamal who was still two years old. Sarah loved everything a bout this place and always complained to her parents when seeing those strangers coming whenever it rains. She didn't appreciate seeing big noisy crowd who don't even take their rubbish with them as they leave this clean environment.
When she was six, her dad refused to send her to school but luckily to her, dad changed his mind after being contacted by one of Sarah's cousins who was living in the Capital with his wife. Her father wasn't so happy because Sarah had to travel about 10kms every morning to the nearest school beside he hadn't got enough money to support her during a journey that takes 12 years. At the end, he accepted the idea and promised himself to do whatever it takes to make Sarah and the rest of the family living a pleasant life.
Days kept passing off with Sarah great achievements at school kept increasing so she joined the high school. Sarah realized that her family was very poor despite the fact that her dad tried to do his best to see his children getting what they deserved. Sarah had to revise for her exams at days time because there was no Electricity in Tanuf. Doctors advised her not to read unless there is enough light coming through. Jamal would join school soon so she had to do something in order to help her parents who were depending on a small farm to feed them and sell the redundant at Nizwa's big Suq. She promised her self to work harder in order to return a bit to her lovely dad and mum and great brothers.
In two years Sarah found her self in the final grade (3rd secondary), her mother had been very ill for the first three months of this critical year so she had to do what her mum used to do like maintaining the house tidy and clean, cooking, and keeping an eye on her younger brothers. Despite all the surrounding circumstances, Sarah was aiming to finish the year with good mark that enables her getting a place at SQU to study medicine. Sarah was very brave girl who can mange accomplishing load of stuffs at once and how happy she was -and so everybody- when she was told that she scored 97% in the first term. Now things are going better for Sarah as her mother had shacked off her regular illness.
The second semester was easier than the first term but guess what happened. One day-as usual- Sarah was heading home from “7afsah bint 3omar high school” but this time she saw a gathering around her house. What!!!! it wasn't raining so what are those people doing here in Tanuf??. Everybody was looking from a distance to the young girl who started to run towards the entrance of her home to be shocked by the news that her dad has just passed away, he was found by Sara's mum laying on his farm. Sadness and gloominess were in the faces of all neighbors, in fact in whole Tanuf. Father sa3eed was well known by everybody there. he was a caring father and a respectable gentleman.
Life has completely changed, Sarah was adversely affected because she thought that she will never ever deliver her promise to return some of what dad had given her. Mariam (Saras Mum) encouraged Sarah and asked her to do what she could to keep the family together. "Making the family happy means making dad happy" Mariam said to her brave daughter.
Despite everything, Sarah went to get 99% in the second term or an average of 98% and got the third best mark in Oman. She joined the medicine college at SQU and now working as a doctor at Nizwa’s Hospital she also got married to a top Engineer and they living together in Tanuf with her mum. Ali is doing Master degree in Telecommunication at Imperial college (London) while Jamal is doing Architecture technologies at the University of Pennsylvania. they will be back home very soon.
Sarah is very happy with her husband and even more happy because she has finally achieved her dream of making the family unite. In few months she is going to be the happiest person on earth because her beloved brothers will be sitting next to her.
