What Do you think about our Local TV..Oman.Tv

What the Pros and Cons that it contains..
And if you have any suggestion in improving it what would they be. Keep in mind mentioning about the brodcasters and all that..
And if you can metion who is the bad brodcaster and who is your favorite brodcaster..

welll..... our omani tv... somehow u get the feeling it is Omani when u watch the channel. (whenver u do watch it)

i do watch from time to time just because my parents like to watch it and they are conservative and the omani is one of the few channels remain respectful! broadcasters, do we have any?! 99% of them just read from the paper and does nothing else apart from what they are told! is it because restrictions or they dont know how! one broadcaster that i personally like and respect is Jeehan Al-lamki... she has the ability to broadcast!:gap: :gap:

i don't watch tv alot when i go back home ,,,all my interest is sport channels ,,

i think in Oman TV ,,they just show programs for filling in the time...without taken in account the quality of those progs !!!
Moreover,,the repeat some prog in the same day ,,!!!

I'm one of the big fans of oman channel to be true..
am suprised why you people dont like it..
I barely watch it those days as i dont have the access but i do sometimes wtch it through the net..its sad i know..
anyways..I guess the improvment that it needs is to chose their brodcusters wisly enough..
I like Hanan Al-Kindi.. My favorite one..I enjoy her away..
The only thing that i agree with Modi here is for them being FAke alot... and never being influent...

anyways...since am one of its fan i wont see much Cons about it.. Thats why i waited for you members to go first..

to be honest ..Oman T.V is just the same as it was 10 years ago!! they even show the same boring programs!!

it lacks creativity.. and talent!! i Rarely switch it on!

Well, I always loveto watch Oman TV. it tells me alot about my country and that what I love.

I like hanan al kindy, Jehan al lamki, shayma al hamadi, Al Margib and there are few who bordcast news but I am not sure about thier names.

I think its not fair to say they did not imporve, In fact I beleive they improved at least 80%. I find the programs in Oman TV is more about cultrue, knowledge and general information. For example, lets see Dubai tv, thier competition programs are filled with useless questions like: where are we now, and what shop seels this or that ( in the festival), While most questions in the competition programs in Oman asks questions that you will come with an extra information after you finish.


Oman is a family channel, it cater mostly for elders and families and this is why many youngsters dont liek it and this is why I like it!!

I think their is an improvment in the programs they show but still they need to work hard to reach level 1 of satisfaction.

Some interesting programs are the economical views which discuss Oman's economey and how to improve it and the problems facing it. Another good program which I like to watch is "ask people of the quran" which they show every Sunday and invite Grand Mufti of Oman shikh Ahmed Al-Khalili.

one extra point that should be given to Oman TV that most bordcasters are OMANIS! so it is actually and Omani channel!!

Back to topic,

As many channels appearing every day on sattilite ppl tend to compare, and tend to move watching other channels.
Why?
ppl have diff background, dif f modes, diff motivation, and the specialized channels ( Mash allah) increase every day as well
Examples for News: CNN-BBC-Al-Jazeera-Sky news ..etc..
Sport : Dupai sport-ART-ESPN-FAX
Songs: V channels- MTV ….

For Oman TV it is showing (suppose to show) everything, news, sports, social prog, economic, Relegeous prog , tourism shows …etc ..all in one sattlite channel ( Now one sattlite and one is ground channels)

They r good points & bad one as for any other channel,

Good things:
- conservative, family watchable, even sometimes w’seen some local Mexician series in Ramadan :D
- Some good program, like ‘Ask ppl of quran’, ‘economical view’, ‘ tourism in biladi’, ‘ morning coffee’ and social show for Han Al-kindy, mmmm ‘ wahat al_fikr ‘ as well.
- Presence of good broadcaster, like Marjiby, Al-saba7, Hanan,, Jehan…..etc who trying their best show something has a benefit for ppl watching. And new SQU gradutes are coming which is a good improvement to the TV.

Some negative point ( in my view):
- Some boring program, specially ‘ Leqa Al-Khamees’ on Thursday ..WA3 :fire:
- Old style broadcaster, news reader, even with time , same style of discussion….No names :D
- Some adds shown really disgusting, specially for banks and cars where the shows the omani ppl running behind money like a hell :fire:
- Repeating series that have been shown two times before, just to fill in the gaps.
- Too many cuts observed while watching program, in other channels almost for adds, But on Oman TV just because technical failure, then AlSa7wa tower will be shown, then sorry…:D.

Being optimistic and seeing whatever I’ve like , when not ,the remote control ready ,
So it is not a big deal.

These are one of the things that caughted my attention.I myself like the repeating part..I allways look fowrward watching those old seriese...I love them more the those new ones.
Anyways most important was about this bad technical failurs..I agree with you here that it happens alot and they need alot of improvments in it..

Exactly..I remember the improvment..as i used to deslike it but i turned loving it after all the progresses..

i would sack everyone in Oman TV and start all over again. i think our tv is rated way down with Yemen and Sudan.:weep:

Anyways the thing is Oman is all about iterviews all day long, nothing new nothing intresting, and all old songs are on same on Oman FM!!!

some1 the dreamer. we spent over 25 years struggling to maintain 1 tv channel and now you're talking about another tv channel. everything in here comes in 1. airport, 1 plane lands every hour. 2 causes all sort of delays and havoc. telephone provider, 1 (omantel). internet provider, 1 (omantel). can distributors, 1 for each make. newspapers, you read 1 you've read them all (so i would say 1). why should tv be any different!!!!!!!!!!!!!
