View Full Version : code 'orange' means trouble for USA
Desert_Sloath 13-02-03, 04:47 PM Bush has raised the state of alertness from 'yellow' (banana?) to 'orange' intimidating the nation to prepare them, psychologically, for Bushes wars abroad.

I just wonder how much it is costing United States Treasury for all false alerts and conquering foreign lands ?
Imagine if Clinton was still in power could all such nonsense still take place ? I doubt it.

Mr Tickle 13-02-03, 05:06 PM you clearly know nothing
colour coded states of alertness have been around for years
Wanderer 13-02-03, 07:10 PM I'm not sure how Hillary would have handled it. I hope we'll never know.
Going to Orange is costing extra as many civil security elements will have to be paid overtime wages and the soft costs associated with delays.
What was irresponsible was for the government suggest that John and Joan Public go out and buy plastic sheeting and duct tape - in case of a chemical attack. While someone well trained in countering chemical/biological contamination might be able to do something effective with those materials, John and Joan Public haven't a clue.
The best measures are those that can also aid during a natural disaster - a weeks worth of food, bottled water, camping gear - stove and lanterns, vehicles fully fueled, charged cell phones, and, most importantly, meeting and evacuation plans.
Same drill for hurricane, thunderstorm, earthquake, bomb, makes it easier to remember and implement.

Whats the next level is it the Red alert I mean after orange ?
Any way we have a say in Arabia " "In bad situations is beneficiary to others "
Wanderer 13-02-03, 09:32 PM Red Alert, the highest, is next.
An example definition: A terrorist attack has occurred or credible and corroborated intelligence indicates that one is imminent. Normally, this threat condition is declared for a specific location or critical facility.
Dark Project 13-02-03, 09:36 PM Meaning that on the 11th of Sep was it rated ( RED ALERT)?? and honestly do you think something like that may happen again ( God Forbids)
Are you all living on the edge now ?

Personally, I think that reasonable precautions are to stay away from the likely targets - national monuments, bridges, tunnels - if there isn't any pressing need to be there. For instance, if I'd had a business meeting planned for DC this week I'd probably re-schedule.
I'll make sure my cell phone is charged, and the family knows where to meet up in case of emergency.
Otherwise, my life hasn't changed.
As an aside, I find it ironic that the Iraqis are moving military equipment to be next to mosques and monuments because they know the Americans are hesitant to destroy them; while American are avoiding monuments because they know that terrorists prefer to attack them.

Yes, it could happen again.
Are you all living on the edge now ?
No. My newly acquired, required reading, "Novell's LDAP Developer's Guide", keeps me from "living on the edge".
:lost:
Dark Project 14-02-03, 03:00 PM I saw in (CNN and BBC) yesterday that there are 50 representatives from each state are against war in Iraq and they have filed a lawsuit on President bush.
Some of them were Senators .
What do you think of that? And what are your personal ideas as we have been exchanging views of the current policies and I wish to know your views as an American citizen and the way your Government are tackling and handling the Iraqi issue.
As I do believe that you do have quite large numbers of American citizens who are against the war.
Can you elaborate on this .

Hmmm, not sure of your sources.
"Six congressmen, several members of the military and parents of servicemen went to Federal Court yesterday to try to prevent the president from launching an invasion of Iraq without an explicit declaration of war from Congress. "
The 6 are Democratic Representatives John Conyers, Dennis Kucinich, Jesse Jackson Jr., Jim McDermott; Jose Serrano and Sheila Jackson Lee.

Dark Project 15-02-03, 06:31 PM Whats the conclusion here are the US and Brits gonna do it or not .
Desert_Sloath 15-02-03, 08:24 PM Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge calls the Amiricans "jittery americans" as if the threat hoax had come from outisde the US Administration. They themselves have prepared the population as a means of freightening them of 'a common threat' and when they become frightened they refer to them a jittery Americans ? I think it is easy for lies to be forgotten quickly isn't it. I mean lies, such as telling the population to start sealing their doors or their windows then contradict the same instructions that there has been no need of doing so
What is wrong with the Administration there ?
I just wonder if Bush was an englishman could he ever have been anybody in the British Administration ? I doubt it. Not even a Chaufeur for Mr Straw. Don't you think so ?

Dark Project 16-02-03, 08:25 AM I would like to share a joke with regards the situation and it fits this thread :
A British, a German, and an American doctor were chatting at a breakout session at an international conference.
A British doctor said, "Medicine in my country is so advanced that we can take a brain out of one man, put it in another, and have him looking for work in six weeks."
A German doctor countered, "That's nothing, we can take a brain out of one person, put it in another, and have him preparing for war in four weeks."
The American doctor was a bit stumped. But, not to be outdone, he piped in, "You guys are way behind! We just took a man with no brain out of Texas, put him in the White House, and now half the country is looking for work, and the other half is preparing for war."
