You know how when you were a kid you'd be impatiently awaiting Eid and counting the days 'till it came?
When you thought it was the best day of the year sometimes it even topped your birthday?
When you couldn't wait to get new clothes, wear them and show them off to everyone and you'd plan months ahead what you would wear? (Mostly girls here :p ).
When getting eidia and spending it was oh so cool, and you'd have in mind what you would do with it way before you knew how much you were going to be getting?
When you took Eid as an excuse to pig out on every food imaginable and stuff yourself till you couldn't breathe?
When going out on Eid day with family meant the world to you? Especially those who went to 3ayod or parks.
When you loved kissing and shaking everyone's hand and wanted to be the first person to say Eid Mubarak to everybody?

Oh the days.....

However now, it's tiresome for me. I hate being 'forced' to buy new clothes and darn it I have to make sure they match too! :duh: Getting up on eid morning is a pain, I'd rather sleep in. And do we HAVE to go visit every single person in this huge family mom? You guys go without me, I'll stay home and watch a movie.

It just isn't the same anymore, I wish I was 11 again ..........does anyone feel the same?

it's true!! i dont even feel that it's eid tommorrow , i just dont feel the joy of eid as when i was a kid!! didn't even buy new clothes this time as i dont see the point of it!! just wear a clean dishdasha..and that will do!! :rolleyes: ah well...hope everyone else has a great eid! :D

Yah u r right RA ......... i thought i'm the only person feeling all that but u r same like me ........... for it dosent mean any thing its just the day we wear sth new .......... oooh really i dont even bother buying sth for this day .......... and about eid morrning its nice meeting everyone and seeing them happy but it really hard morrning and feel sleepy and lazy .......... mmmmmmm its not same any more but one wish i really really want to return to my childhood so i can be happy again in this day and so this day will be a very special day 4 me again ..............:rolleyes:

i cant agree less...its not the same anymore.....it used to ...be like that as we were with free minds.....the older we get the more less freedom our mind posses...

hmm...actually i find Eid..a good chance to meet up with distant family ..which you dont often see or visit. So I personally think its a good chance to do that..:D

I get excited for Eid..Yess it diffrent in terms off the way i wait for it!
I mean when i was a kid mostly my aim was in gaining more money than my brother..Playing more and all those cute kiddish life.. Now i tend to wait for it from another look by like what dede mentioned: Meeting my family that i didnt see for a long time..chit-chat with my other granies..-and most important:Eating Orsia and shuwa :D...-..and so on...
Eid is on of my best celeberties reallly...I Enjoy it alot when am back there..
I also try to enjoy it here.. Its not the same at all but having eid fun atleast in a way or another-Like having break from studies and gather with friends ..

P.S. Bi the use of getting something new for eid is its because its Sunna..We are encouraged as its one of our Muslim celeberties to have new things...

totaly right....see i am 15 and although i am considered as a child....i cant feel the spirit of eid..ramadan..any occasions...it is not the same any more..but i guess it is in our hand t o make it beutiful and true..right!!:wink:

thoes were the days when Eid was Eid all exicted and happy...i feel eid is mostly for kids and we probably feel this way cause lets face it we are growing up...i say this cause i look at my nieces and i see how excited they are about it..their new clothes etc..so we have grown up and had our fun kids are around let them enjoy it as much as they can...lol :)

Another sad thing is that everyone (meaning the old ppl of the family) are passing away..sp each year my visiting list becomes less...which is sad...but i guess it is part of life

Well I totlally agree with most of u guys, I don't feel happy about Eid & even I don't feel that I want to wear some thing new:sorry: ...... I think as dear 4-ever said that most of the old ppl passing away so now the Eid with out meaning 4 them...Do u belive guys that I don't have any Grand pa & I have only one grand ma who is away from the country:weep: .....I don't feel the Eid as before when they were a live:( .

Well actually, as DD said, i'd saythat the best thing about eid is that u meet with ur family!
Especially those that u don't come to see unless it's eid!!

Well for the first time i was busy in eid til late!!
Usually i finish the visiting stuff by afternoon!

Oh well at least u see ppl are enjoying it :)

well..Eid lost it taste as most of you said..
its not at it used to be anymore...everything changed.
That doesnt mean that we guys have grown up so we cant feel it great anymore, not at all..in my opinion our life changed and it started to be more modern in eid, where there you feel the changes..sometimes ppl now dont even think about buying a new cloths coz they just feel it like a normal day, they wake up at a very late time, then they go and visit their family like someone is forcing them, they start smiling at everyone's face even if they dont feel like doing it, and then get back home ... thats it..
i used to go to 3ayood when i was kid and gets 3eediyah and all new stuff and what i buy from my 3eediyah i keep on playing with it and remember that i bought this thing in this eid.

this is my first post in the english sablah and i never tried to write in an english forum, so i hope it goes well and none of get board of what i say ...... not that i talk much :cool:

about the eid, all what u said guys is true! its just because we dont think as kids anymore. (bugger!:lost: ) and of course we dont get the eidyah anuymore well not the way it used to be! however, we should do more effort in trying to have a great eid by waking up early in the morning and going to the mosque and doing the pray and afterwards saying happy eid to the ppl that you know there. once u get home u do the same with your family. one good reason that could motivate u to go and visit relatives is to go with some one that u usually go out with and and consider it as a going out trip ....... its fun!:D
