View Full Version : Friendship
laughingrose 04-02-01, 12:41 AM Friendship isn't always easily described. The Eskimos, they say, have a hundred different words for snow. Unfortunately, the English language isn't quite as innovative, though it has vast opportunities to differentiate meaning. Certainly, Love is one of those opportunities. And so, too, is Friendship.
Instead of different words, however, we're stuck with simple adjectives. Close friend. Best friend. Childhood friend. Intimate friend. Trusted friend. Beloved friend. But whether you use adjectives or different words, few could deny the nearly infinite meaning in such a simple word.
Friends are special people. We can't pick our family, and we're sorely limited in the number of them at any rate. Society and mores (and often our own conscience) dictate we select a single mate. But our friends can be as diverse and infinite as the adjectives we choose. Our friends, in a very real sense, reflect the choices we make in life.
nice lines, but I disagree with you when you said "We can't pick our family" , me and my younger brother + my cozin are best friends.we share every thing which friends share ;)
Thanks for sharing laughingrose:cute:
Genius, I think what it actually means by "you cant choese your family" is you dont get the chance to choese who in the world you want as you brother or cousin unlike freinds you can :)

DodiKita 03-03-06, 12:41 PM Very well written laughingrose... its very touching!!
Sweety, then I disagree again :) , I have a friend since college time ..his family became mine and mine is his.he is a friend whom I can depend on and blindly trust.
Senorita 03-03-06, 02:54 PM LOL Prof. i think the same too.
DodiKita 03-03-06, 04:48 PM Genius that case could happen.. but they still aren't related to you by blood!!!
Sweety, then I disagree again :) , I have a friend since college time ..his family became mine and mine is his.he is a friend whom I can depend on and blindly trust.
but they still are not family, i think laughingrose made it clear, u cant choose famile and that is true, u have family members, brothers sisters, uncles, cousins, second cousins, whether u like them or not, whethere they r close to u or not, they r still family, and u cant deny ur family.. and having a friend which his family became your, thats a good thing, but still, they r not family, suppose u and ur friend had a disagreement, will they still like u? i dont think so, u came through him, so ur bond with him gets broken, that means ur bond with them gets broken too :)
Some times you disagree with your cozin for example, the bond will break too .there are cases which two brothers stop meeting each other or seeing each other :)
There are friends which become family! a brother doesnt mean only that two have same parents and same blood.its a relationship like any! and you can have a friend as a brother . hope that am not drifting from the topic and didnt missunderstand what u were trying to say.
a brother or a cousin will always be a brother or a cousin, there is no such thing as u had a break in the bond, he is a human being, u r a human being, human beings have hearts, no matter how long they dont talk to eachother, i bet deep inside him, there is sorrow for his lost brother.
family is always family.
someone has one day said "i dont trust friends, i trust only family" and i think that is right, i wouldnt trust a friend as much as a family member.
friend+trust+something wrong happens= bond broken, most probably forever, and u'll forget he ever existed.
family member+ something wrong happened= bond broken, u wont ever forget u have an existing brother, neither will he.
family is family u cant deny it.
i like it when someone agrees with me, thank u :D:p
