There is a shortage of IT certified people in the world in the region of QUARTER OF A MILLION in the USA alone. Now if i had a HND or a GNVQ with work experience in Info. Tech or Info.Sys i would be getting paid about 800 rials a month to work as technical support staff. How much do they pay in Oman 200-350 rials?
Did you also know that the middle east with all its wealth and money are the LAST in the entire developing and developed world in IT??? Could it be cuz they won't pay US what we should be getting?

what to do????????????????????????????? Middle East dont give importance to IT Field............ and they pay less compared to other countries and all IT professionals run away to the west for better job prospects................
Don't belieave a word about shortage of IT ppl. Thats not very true. Today in the US, Dell announced 1700 job cut most of then Tech Support, last week two major US companies Motorolla and Applied materials cut more than 5000 jobs. More to follow next week( will see). Don't say this rumors, thats what Michell Dell said 2 days ago today its official see what will happen next weak. If there is really shortage they will not be this much layoffs and only in the IT copmanies.
Besides, I know many Master graduuare in the IS who still have no job and they been around for few months looking for a chance to get in.
Even worse in the Gulf states, Indians have taken over most of the IT companies do you think bosses/sponsors will pay you 2,3 times one Indian gets.... you must be joking, don't say Omanization or whatever they call in other AGCC ...not in this field yet anyway... We still hundred years behind the world(thats what they say) in many fields including IT.

Flash
Oracle
Info. Systems modelling and development (SSADM)
Networks(i.e. java cnet dba etc etc )
these will guarantee youa job if you are good at these (and i mean realllllly good) subjects:
C++
Assembly languages
SSADM
engineering hardware and softare basicallys
