variety can sometimes cause problems..

There are lots of printers of different brands out in the market.. how do you evaluate them? on what basis would you chose a printer?! what would make you go for one printer and leave out the rest?

ofcourse it all depends on your usage.. but what else?

There are many reasons......such as:

- Printing speed.

- The quality of the printout

- The cost of the ink. (the ratio of ink usage)

- The extra features it has (like printing on different type of paper)

- The noise a printer can cause during printing (some like it very quiet others dont mind).

- The software package that comes along with it. for example, how easy is it to install it? If it gives you ink usage indicators.

- How easy it is to replace the ink cartiages.

---------------

thats basically a summary of what we could look into while buying a printer. And as you mentioned....there are alot around...and most of them are equal in features...but there is always a more perferable brand then the other.

If you are not using it for proffesional work, like just for having it as a house printer to print some texts from time to time, you shouldn't worry about anything other than the price of the ink and availability of it. Check the availalbility for the Canon ink, becuase I don't think it is very common to use Canon printers, and check the price of the ink that the HP printer uses.

well, for starters they have the same dpi (dot per inch) thats the clearity of the print out, but if you check the speed, the canon was 1ppm and the hp was 11ppm (ppm = page per min, which in this case is text otherwise it would have been mentioned) now i wouldnt like to have a 1ppm printer at office or at work... i would go for hp any time...

get yourself epson, for personal use.

Talking of experience, epson rocks in the inkjet and dot matrix world. But HP rules in the laser printer .

i hade some bad expirence with the epsons, 740... bad software, i dont know about the new onces thought they seem to look nice...

i would go for any hp blind folded... like the new inkjet 3240... sweet, small in size, fast, good for uni students who want a printer for a year...

What do you mean by bad software? Man, are you sure you had bad experience for that reason. Because I've had experience with epson for more than 6 years, and never had any single problem. I've worked alot with many of epson models at work too.

Can you specify more your problem ?
