I think this would be useful for members who cannot access programs such as msn due to univeristy/office restrictions..

Most corporate networks today are behind firewalls. The purpose of a firewall is to prevent unwanted users from having access to machines within a companies intranet. At the same time they allow people in the intranet to access the internet. Unfortunately due to the way some firewalls are setup, only allow certain applications work. The Answer ?

HTTP-Tunnel

HTTP-Tunnel allows people behind restrictive firewalls to use previously blocked applications through their firewall.

The functionality of HTTP-Tunnel is an application that runs in your system tray acting as a SOCKS server. Your application sends data to the HTTP-Tunnel client running on your desktop which then tunnels the data over HTTP (Port 80) to one of the state of the art six servers run by HTTP-Tunnel.com This servers then sends the data to the real destination and vice versa. This forwarding mechanism allows people to use any internet application from behind a firewall.

Advantages of HTTP-Tunnel:

Use all your favorite applications through the software (Morpheus, Kazaa, Ultima Online, ICQ, MSN, Explorer,FTP clients, PC Anywhere, Imesh, Starcraft, etc )

Simple to install and use

Secure high speed servers with the latest anti virus protect

No bandwidth limit to the amount you can download

Allows you to surf the web privately and check your e-mail from behind your restrictive firewall

Software updated to meet regularly to meet latest demands

24-Hour tech support through e-mail and chat

Hiee...well I tried HTTP-Tunnel for MSN. It works fine but now for a long time I never tried.

Do you use Kazaa? Well, there is a trial version of KazaaHTTP on the site and works for 20 days very fine behind a firewall. I am looking for a complete version. By any chance do you know from where I can get? Please I would be grateful to you.

Shukran!

hmm....N_B ......if you cant download..that means the firewall setup at the place you are at.....doesnt allow to download specific file types....or the other way around...such as allows only specific ones...

and in such case.,,,,it totally depends on the network setup you have there....with no information about that...there isnt much I personally can help with..:)

Gates of Ishtar: welcome to IT sabla....hmm havent heard of that program...i'll check it out and let u know..:D

thats nice, but It wont work in lots of universities for one reason:
the firewall blockes not only the use of some applications but also installing them on any of the computers within the intranet. Even if you were able to download it, you wont be able to install it!!

in your case Navy_boy, you can download it on another computer and then save it in a floppy (or a couple of floppies) or even a CD if its large, and then install it on the desired computer.
but the problem of installing the software is still there!!:gap: :gap: :gap:
