The Tour of Oman 2010 is a monumental event being organized by the Muscat Municipality to celebrate the 40th year of the blessed Renaissance. Symbian goes fully open source, it's a free download to all |

There have been quite a few rumors about the fate of Symbian, but now the OS has entered a new stage of its existence - its code is now open source. This move began in June 2008, when Nokia bought Symbian and created the Symbian Foundation to take over the development of the OS. And the Foundation has big plans for the future.
Symbian OS is still the most popular smartphone operating system with 330 million units shipped only last year. The Foundation claims this is the largest transition to open source ever and believes it will help speed up the evolution of the platform. And evolution it needs - with the likes of the iPhone and Google's Android OS, which is also open source, exploding into popularity.
The Symbian Foundation includes Nokia, LG, Motorola, NTT Docomo, Samsung, Sony Ericsson, operators Vodafone and AT&T and chipmaker Texas Instruments. Nokia has been the primary developer in Symbian, but plans to reduce their input to less than 50% by the second half of 2011.

Religion: A Bliss that Causes War? |
|

Religion Sabla
What is Religion? Is it the bliss of the past and curse of the present?
Why do people always have to interpret religious texts to justify their wrong doings?
Wars in the past were always waged in the name of religion, and still are.
We see and hear people justifying their act of terror as the call from God.
We see other people who wage wars because they believe God spoke to them and told them to do so.
Will they ever stop?
Will they ever come to a consensus that God is a spiritual bond between His entity and all human beings?

Did Twitter Kill Blogging? |
|
Dec 26, 2009 - 11:40 PM - by NaBHaN

I've been browsing around Omani blogs recently and couldn't help but notice how dead most of them were. I remember back in 2005 - 2006 how everyone was into it and posted on a daily basis but now it would be great if we get an update even once a month by most of the remaining blogger. I think that 'tweeting' has taken over most of their time which is sad because i've always viewed 'twitter' as just another way of chatting as opposed to blogging which is a portal where real opinions are conveyed, plus it's extremely annoying (in my personal opinion) to follow all those tweets by twitter addicts and going through all their replies to whomever comments on a tweet they made so the list ends up looking like a bunch or replies as opposed to being easily updated with 'what's going on with them', so yeah it's just a hassle to follow and complete waste of time in my opinion. I liked blogging because it was easy to access, take what you want and leave what you don't want, plus it had a more professional feel to it with people actually elaborating on what they're talking about, not to mention the ability to skim through users comments on a blogger entry.
I hope that people go back to blogging someday, they don't necessarily have to give up on tweeting, but I always felt that twitter was meant to be more of an 'update' on what's happening to you as opposed to using it as a way to chat with everyone around.
Here's an interesting read on why people are switching to 'twitter', also you can follow our users discussion through this thread: Do you still blog?
